Has anybody had any dealings with Terra nova holidays?
They work out of an office in Porto Colon Just above Taffs bar and hand out scratch cards there abouts, They try to get tourists to join clubclassconcierge.
A friend of mine stayed in my apartment last September and got stung for about £7000 on a promise that he will get it back in 5 years time. Rolling Eyes
I was wondering if it’s the scam i think it is or has he any chance of seeing his money back.

Well put it this way, lets meet up by the beach today for the very first time so that I can give you a scratchcard that mysteriously wins each and every time so that you can then lend me £7000 and I'll promise to pay it back in 5 years time......... honest!! Yes, I'll still be around then, scouts honour.... Laughing Wakey wakey Leah!

If you actually want to buy into a timeshare or holiday club there are far more reputable ways of getting into them. To be honest though, I've yet to meet anyone who can explain to me how buying into one of these plans is in any way good value for money. You buy a timeshare week and you're stuck with the same week in the same complex with the same noisy neighbours you had last week. Sure, you can trade weeks, but then what's the point of buying it in the first place?? You might as well rent direct through an owner. That way there's no administrative hassle when you fancy a change of apartment, complex, resort or country.

Or maybe pay into a holiday club?? Sure, the brochure looks great, but then you discover that all the popular complexes are booked up years in advance and you have to pay a premium to get a sea view etc etc etc. Flights are never included, nor are transfers and often you have to pay extra for cleaning/linen etc.

If anyone planning to buy into one of these schemes actually bothered to calculate what it would cost to simply buy a holiday abroad each time they fancied one, when and where they wanted to go with almost zero administrative hassle, they would see that its cheaper to do it yourself. And then also factor in the interest that you could earn on the £7000 (or usually more) if it was sitting in a high interest account. There's another two or three weeks holiday paid for by the interest alone!

And as a final thought, bear in mind that the P.R's and managers for the timeshare companies are expecting to cream off thousands of Euros commission respectively out of your purchase. Still think you're getting a good deal??

Thanks that’s more or less what I told him but he seems sold on the idea I just want him to hear it from a 3rd party.
From what I have seen in the past these company sell you a flight and accommodation, they then take a profit from the flight, The accommodation is an unused time share room that will cost them next to nothing, the resort touts will try to sell you time share that year and every other year you use there “service” in the hope of even moor commission and a finders fee back to the holiday club that you pay into.
