hola
We have been thinking of buying a mobile home from hotspotz, with a view to moving out there in 3 years when our son finishes school. Has anyone been to the caravan site near los silencio. i just wondered if it was in the middle of nowhere and what facilities are there as the pictures on the webset dont show much. obviously we will come over and have a look before we buy anything. just needed to know how far it is away from everything and if its worth buying there. thanks jan |

Hi Jan and welcome from me too
The caravan site is about 5km from Costa del Silencio and about the same from Las Galletas. It has no amenities within walking distance as far as I know but may have on-site facilites (I suppose their website will tell you that).
If you PM me your email address, I'll send you a map to show you where it is exactly. |

hi all
Thankyou for the welcome. we do intend to move to the Tenerife once our son has left school.I work as a fault and broadband advisor for BT, does anyone know ifi there is a telefonica building of any sorts in tenerife. I went on telefonica site but didnt really get anywhere.
We were in tenerife 4 weeks ago i noticed some BT adverts in the free paper canarian news that BT are advertising cheaper calls to the UK although i have searched the sites of BT i havent come accross anything about tenerife does anyone know anything,as this would be ideal for me. my husband is a health and safety engineer, dealing with lifting and harnisess, stuff like that. do you think there is any call for that in tenerife. any help would be fantastic.
thanks jan |

BT have colaborated with the Sun newspaper to give ex pats cheaper international calls. I have only seen this in the newspapers out here and not on the internet either.
As for telefonica, there may be a building for them up in Santa Cruz but i haven't seen it. Most of there offices that you call are in Malaga as far as i know. Telefonicainenglish is a spin off that supplies a small amount of support for the english but this is also based in Malaga. _________________ Find out more at www.myspacetenerife.com

Hi Jan,
Do you speak Spanish? If (and I'm not sure either) there is a Telefonica building in Tenerife a) it would most probably be up in Santa Cruz, and b) they would employ only Spanish speakers.
There are other companies that offer broadband eg. Tele2, ya.com, Wanadoo and more (make a search on here for broadband or adsl as people have posted stuff about broadband. Again, I don't know if they have a central office here in Tenerife and you would need to speak Spanish.
There are also many English-run cheap call companies, perhaps you could take a look at them eg Direct Telecom, Lowcall, etc
Same goes for your husband. If he speaks Spanish then I'm sure he'd find work in the health and safety area. Otherwise, I don't know.
Hope this is of some help to you. |

Can i be really old and ask why you are waiting for your son to finish school if he is 13???
There are english schools out here that cater for your sons age. Also as yet he has not started his exams so it wouldnt be that hard a transaction.
Admittedily you do have to pay for english school and probaly his friends.??
i just thought i would ask. _________________ Find out more at www.myspacetenerife.com

hi strips
Thats not only the reason, My husband isnt his dad and he sees his real dad very regularly, and he doesnt feel ready to leave him yet, so we decided that we would wait untill hes 16 then at least he can fly home to see him without us. ( i THINK ) also it takes him a while to make friends and i think he may find it daunting. If it was left to us we would be there tomorrow, the older kids dont have a problem with it. Anyway time flies so hopefully it wont seem too long. Thanks anyway. jan |
