Post Post subject: Calima Reply with quote

Can someone explain to me exactly what a Calima is, know it is to do with very hot climate, as saw Karl's post the other day but what does it actually mean?

Last year we experienced sorrocan winds(know I have spelt that wrong) but believe Calima is different. Thanks

I know what you mean I have not experienced one yet but friends have told me even inside with fans it is still roasting hot.

Do you have aircon?

Thought about buying one of those little tiny ones putting it in the utility room and staying there for a few days lol

Get a large fridge and sit in there with some cold beers Laughing

On a more serious note, I know someone who installs air-con if you want his number. Or are you going to wait and see how you survive your first calima?

No Karl we do not have air con and so far our apartment is quite cool as can get a through draft and we have fans don't know how we would cope with a Calima would have to keep doors shut, but then again if you have air con don't you have to do that anyway! Think I'll take Jenny's advice open up the fridge and have a few beers much more sensible idea. Another thing I read about a couple of years ago was a plaque of locusts god thats another thing to stay indoors for, that would freak me, have heard though they are dying by the time they get here. What with our conversation about cockroaches last night we painting a grim picture of Tenerife, but can assure everyone even with all these things still would rather be here. Especially in September in England when we used to overrun with Daddy Long Legs, we lived in the country and had hundreds visit us

the locusts were mainly in Fuertaventura......

The thing with calimas is everyone puts on fans and aircon and the some areas are without electricity as the cant cope....lol

Not that one Jama it was 2 months ago but we did have a small one a few days ago.

Not that bad really, certainly nothing like the September Calima

Cool

It was the recent one that I was referring to. I thought it best to use this legacy thread, rather than start a new one.

I understand that the September one was really blowing... Very Happy
