I didn't make it happen and anyway, it hasn't arrived yet.
Oh, and just to cover my back in case it doesn't arrive: don't believe everything you read in the papers or on the forum _________________ Who am I? Find out more here: http://www.myspacetenerife.com/index.php?page=view_profile&id=17

Its basically a hot wind that blows in from the Sahara and carries a fine sandy dust with it. Temperatures typically rise 10c above normal, and visibility can be so bad it sometimes looks almost like fog. During the last one, I remember wiping off my outdoor table, came indoors for 5 minutes, went back out again, and table was as dusty as before .... Now I just get a cleaner in .... _________________ My Paranoia-Management Therapy is going great! Now they're only watching me half the time.... |

Right thanks Funky - we were in Fuerteventura a few years ago and the whole Island was covered in this fine dust for the whole time that we were there - must have been a Kalima w guess.
Does it do any damage to cars or just makes then dustier than usual?

It clogs up the air filters quicker than normal and can damage paintwork if not washed off carefully. _________________ .

Blimey! Better pack the goggles and snorkel!
Great pictures though - thanks for the link Jenny.
Being a London boy I can still remember the Pea soupers of the fifties before the Clean Air Act was introduced.
The fog would fall and the smoke from the chimneys couldn't pass through it and the whole mix became toxic and it would last for days.
Hundreds of people would die mostly of respiratory problems especially the very young and very old.
My mums solution though was to ensure that all five of her children had a knitted balaclava to keep out the smoke!
Nice one Mum - thanks!!!
Anyone else on the forum from London or other cities and remember this type of thick fog??

Ha ha Dave and Alli yes I do remember I was brought (dragged lol lol) up in London and I can remember my Mum in all her wisdom had all her five children walking out with silk or polyester (but still an embarrassment) scarfs wrapped around our faces with just our eyes showing. lol lol
Although do remember not being able to see where you were going and coughing like mad. Oh the old days, do not miss them a bit, except for the laughs we had at the time. Coming home to a cold house with paraffin heaters in the hall and the only fire (gas) in the front room. Bloody freezng in bed, where you had ice forming on the inside of the window panes. God do I sound old or what. Well to be honest I suppose I am compared to all the youngsters on the forum lol lol |

Hi Sunny - loved your recent post. God the good old days eh! - we were poor but we were happy!!!
Perhaps we should suggest to Rob that, a bit like the youngsters on the forum, us oldies have our on site so we can reminisce about thick fog, Pussycat Willum, Aunty Muriel and Ollie Owl
Which part of London are you from??
