 Post subject: Are the BBQ area´s open now...Info please |

Bonjour Chaps and Chapesses.
The first Sunday of every month, Mrs Treb and I meet a few friends and we BBQ, usually in the mountains, above San Miguel.
Can any one tell me if the BBQ areas are open again after the horrific fires or are they still closed?
Any information would be much appreciated.

| They are mainly open up here but not sure about the ones in forest areas - Santiago del Teide BBQ area is back in use though and that was hit by the fire. |

Las Lajas up above vilaflor was open 2 weeks back and I think it is still open.
we went up there for our BBQ and it was rather busy and this was early evening.
I am sure you will be fine Treb.

El Contador above Arico is open. I was there at the weekend.

These areas are closed:
El Cabildo de Tenerife ha cerrado nueve áreas recreativas, zonas de acampada y campamentos como consecuencia del incendio que ha azotado la zona Noroeste y Suroeste de la isla de Tenerife. Así, el área de Medio Ambiente ha procedido a clausurar las áreas recreativas y zonas de acampada de La Tahona, Barranco Fuente Pedro, El Lagar, Las Hayas, Arenas Negras, San José de Los Llanos, Los Pedregales y los campamentos de Barranco de La Arena y El Lagar.
These are open:
Por otra parte, se mantendrán abiertas al público las áreas recreativas de Chanajiga, Ramón Caminero, La Caldera, Las Lagunetillas de Santa Ursula, Hoya del Abade, La Vica, Las Calderetas, Lomo de La Jara, Las Raíces, Los Brezos, Los Frailes, El Contador, Las Lajas, El Llano de Los Viejos y La Quebrada, así como el uso de sus fogones. Además, el campamento de Madre del Agua también permanecerá abierto.

I dont know the specific name of it. You turn left just as you are heading out of San Miguel, "signposted villaflor" and its 10 mins or so up that road on your left. It has superb toilet facilities, and sinks all over the place. No camping is allowed.
It is below the Villaflor BBQ area.

No, its a huge place about 10 mins out of San Miguel. You turn off the road on your left, the turning is on a right hand bend. You may miss it if you didn't know it was there. There are no signs from the road.
You then travel down a single track for 30 seconds or so, pass the toilets on your left and the car park is at the end of the track.
We use this one as our friends say the facilities are so much better than the Villaflor BBQ area.
Do any of you know it?

Nope, but when you go there, let us know if it was open and I will suggest it for our future barbecues as that's a lot closer than Arico. How long does it take from Silencio? Is it busy?

You say that you turn left out of San Miguel....that would make it on the El Fronton road?
