Post subject: Help with Tenerife itinerary |
|
|
I'm going to Tenerife for 4 days and I'm trying to sort out an itinerary. Does this look like a good plan?
1:
(Santa Cruz -) La Orotava - Las Cañadas - Los Roques - Teide - Ucanca - Los Gigantes - Masca - Garachico - Icod - Santa Cruz
2:
(Santa Cruz - Los Cristianos -) La Gomera - Los Cristianos - Santa Cruz
3:
(Santa Cruz -) Las Teresitas - San Andres - Taganana - Mercedes mont. - La Laguna - Santa Cruz
4:
Santa Cruz |

And also; is it possible to bring a rental car from Gran Canaria to Tenerife, or will it be problems with the insurance?
We will spend one day in La Gomera. Would you recommend going on a guided tour or to go around there ourselves with the rental car?
Thanks!

Thanks for ur answer!
We will arrive in Santa Cruz at 8 in the morning and start on the journey right away. Guessing we will be driving all day long. I'm still not sure if we will go to Masca though... I heard it was one of the most beautiful and scenic villages on the island, but that the road there was horrible and one of the most dangerous roads in Tenerife... As I suffer from serious vertigo I guess I will have my share of anxiety that day, and maybe we can save Masca for another trip... But if people think Masca is a must then we will try to go there too.
On the last day we are just going to relax and look around in Santa Cruz. If we see that we are running out of time on the first day then maybe we can visit Garachico and Icod on the last day instead. If it's not too far from Santa Cruz? |

Garachico and Icod are next to each other and both are well worth a visit. The Parque del Drago in Icod is a must to see the ancient Dragon Tree!
Masca is a must too and to my mind the most amazing place here! The road is a nightmare though and also 1 of the wonders of the world I'd say and not at all advisable if you are already tired from driving. All credit is due the bus drivers who handle that road each day! It is somewhat easier taking the Masca road from BuenaVista del Norte than from Santiago del Teide. The Santiago one is the really winding road over steep drops and a major feat of roadbuilding! Both are like this but I would think the Buenavista one is a touch easier. _________________ Find out more about me here: http://www.myspacetenerife.com/index.php?page=view_profile&id=10 |

I talked with some car rental companies today and they said that we could not take the car from Gran Canaria to Tenerife. So then we have to rent one car in GC first, one in TF and then another one when we get back to GC... But at least we save the ferrymoney for the car... |
