La Orotava is a very beautiful city in the Orotava valley above Puerto de la Cruz and well-known for its House of Balconies and cobbled streets and old Spanish colonial style architecture. To my mind it is one of the prettiest places to visit in the north and easy to get to on the Bono bus.

...even after all these years of visiting tenerife, we've never been up north!! thanks to bards informative , lovely pictures and write-ups, i will be doing next visit!!

This is where I live!
Well, actually in Los Pinos.

It is very beautiful, but it does have an ugly side, and they're building ugly large apartment blocks just a bit above La Orotava.

If you're ever in La Orotava, look for a little bar/tavern called "El Valle".
It's my favourite bar in Tenerife, and the owners know me quite well. I'll most likey be in there eating lunch!
