Post subject: Santa Bárbara - village of the Pyramids |

Santa Bárbara, just out of Icod, has pyramids all over the place and farmers grow papaya, grapes, lettuce and other crops around them. In one street there is a house right next to one and even a Pastelaría la Pirámide!
Here are some pics:

Good question, Leanne - all the pyramids here have debatable origins. Some say they were made by the Guanches and others that the landowners here built them.
From what I have been able to find out there was a much bigger one in La Mancha that was destroyed for development there and in Santa Bárbara there is a road that cuts right through what looks like the remains of one. This is quite common though and in the UK much of Avebury stone circle got used in local buildings and there people built a village and a pub within the ancient monument.
Nobody shows much interest in the Santa Bárbara ones it appears!
