Post subject: Caravan / Mobile Home Parks - South of Tenerife |
|
|
Hi everyone,
As an avid reader of this forum and frequent visitor to Tenerife I would really appreciate your help.
I need to escape dreary Britain, which is going down the drain very quickly, and start a new life on Tenerife.
The only feasible way for me to afford it at the moment would be to buy a mobile home in the south of the island.
After doing some research, there seems to be a well developed site at Las Galletas with some very nice accommodation.
I would be most grateful if anyone knew of any other sites in the south within say half an hour of Las Americas, or if anyone knows anything about the site at Las Galletas, good or bad!!
Any comments would be most welcome.
Also with regards to work, I have just turned 30, am computer lilterate, currently a sales manager of a small business hence not afraid of hard work/long hours. Passed GCSE spanish a good few years ago and about to embark on night school to learn more conversational spanish.
Are there any jobs over there that spring to mind other than bar work/pr work that the Brits stand half a chance of getting. As mentioned hard work doesnt bother me as long as i can cover the bills and have a few euros spare for a beer or two. Its the quality of life thats important to me.
Thanks for your time in reading the post, look forward to any pearls of wisdom you can throw my way!
Cheers,
Steve - Hull, England |

Hi, I live on the Camp Site in Las Galletas. I absolutely love it but It's not for everyone.
Let me know any questions you have & i'll be happy to help.
Are you shipping your own caravan? There are quite a few on the site for sale already sited etc. |

Hi, thanks for message. There is a second hand one for sale for Ģ18,000 ono on one website I have seen. Is this a fair/normal price?? Are there any bars/restaurants in the immediate vicinity or is it a bit out in the sticks? How long does it take to get to Las Galletas town? Thanks for all your help, much appreciated. |

Hi
The Caravan up for sale for 18.000 was extremely cheap but it was unfortunately sold this morning actually (by my Dad!!!!) sorry!!!. There is another one available for 25.000 sterling which has a utility extension & includes all appliances etc.
The average price for a caravan already sited on here is about 25,000 to 30,000k. There is also a guy who builds them from scratch actually on site to your design & the include absolutely everything. I think they start from 35,000.
I don't know what they are charging to ship them through hotspots, I know it's gone up quite a bit since we did it two years ago. There is also becoming a lack of available plots, hence the price of the ready sited ones here are increasing.
My advice to you is that if you are planning to buy something you need to act fast.
It's a 5 min drive to Las Galletas, about 30 mins walk. There are a few local bars/restaurants there. There is a bar/cafe on the site. If you want Tourist/British kind of nightlife then you would have to go into Los Cris which is 10-15 mins by car.
Hope this helps |

Thanks for info Samantha.
As and when the second hand caravans come up for sale, are they always advertised on Hotspotz, or is there any other places i can check them out on?
Also, does it get terribly hot inside the caravans in the height of summer, or do they have air conditioning??? |

I think you really have to remember that living on a campsite is not everyones cup of tea as I said in my original post. However if you want a very unmaterialistic way of life then it's a very cheap way of living on the island more or less without any bills other than your ground rent. People that liv on here love it.
I personally gave up a 3 bed house in the UK & have never looked back but as I say it's not for everyone. |

My mate lives on there and swears by it, and i have to admit feeling little bit jealousy at the simplicity and cost effectiveness of living there when i look at our monthly bills. _________________ Oh well, here goes another day in paradise! |
