Hi, My husband and I recently purchased a house in El Medano, we are hopefully going to move to Tenerife within the next 12 months... we arrived back yesterday after 3 weeks and I sooo wish I was back there. Are there any other members of the forum residents in El Medano? If so, can you suggest where to go on nights out (we are 30 and 35). We had a fantastic new years eve in El Medano square - the atmosphere and the band were fantastic - hope to hear from fellow El Medano residents soon. All the best for 2006! Anna

Hi and welcome to the forum, I don't live in El Medano but wish you luck in your venture. You won't find much 'nightlife' apart from restaurants and bars. You'll have to come to the 'big city' for entertainment.

Thanks for the reply Rob. Yep, we usually go out in the 'big city' some nights when we are there! That is the good thing about Medano, it's quite close to most things so you have the best of both worlds... can't wait to move over there it is constantly on my mind (as you can see I am in work in cold, rainy Manchester at the moment and thinking of Tenerife!)

love el medano we always visit when we go, lovely spanish place, just usually sit on the beach, have a walk, maybe a meal its heaven!

Hi Johnny,

Would I recommend el medano - without a doubt!! I am sat here in Manchester - Easter Weekend - okay don't get me wrong we are off camping tomorrow for 1 night!! Yeepee!! We so wanted to go back for the easter weekend but did not realise how expensive it was in school holidays.

I honestly believe El Medano is a lovely place to raise a family. My huband and I are cuurently trying for a family as well as running a business over here.. the deal is once I am pregnant then within 12 months we will wind the company down and move out there.

I have found El Medano mainly a young (30's/ 40's) town with a lot of toddlers and pregnant women!! It seems care-free and a nice way of life - there are sooo many play grounds as well as the beaches - the way life is how it such be - I would say it is the ideal place to bring up children - it is ours!!

Hi Tuckers Luck,

El Medano is a great place to go out....Forget LA & Los Cris. The best nightlife can be found at Goiters (nice pre-club bar), ¿Que Pasa? (great club & good for gigs - open till 4/5/6!!!), Magma (nice chillout place) and Caiman (again great for gigs and a late night drinking). Another nice place to chill and eat is Manfreds (Soul Cafe ...I think) more or less next door to Goiters. All these places are within a 5-10 minute walk from the main plaza. If you want me to knock you a map together PM me.

El Medano is a nice quiet place! I loved to go there on my Tenerife vacations. Montaña Roja beach is so lovely and beautiful! I think it's so much better than some Los Cristianos beaches. Water is especially clear there.

I have played at Manfred's Soul Bar and been there a few times and agree with the recommendation.

I have also been to the top of Montaña Roja and recommend it for a walk and a view!

And these strange pot-like constructions are in the sandy volcanic rock below:
