Post subject: Electrical safety in Tenerife |
|
|
Hi everybody. I have been viewing this board now for several weeks and it really does seem like a great place to find the answers to many topics concerning working and living in Tenerife.
I will be moving to Tenerife later this year to live there with my family. I would like to know if there is any potential employment in the Electrical Safety Testing field as this is what I currently do in the UK. Over here and as in the rest of Europe (as far as I am aware) businesses are required by law to have any portable equipment that they use PAT tested for electrical safety.
Does anybody know if this applies also in Tenerife?
Any comments or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Rich. |

Hi Rich,
I don't know but one thing is for certain you'll need to have all your qualifications officially translated into spanish for a start.
To get a list of qualified translaters contact spanish embassy london |

its a lot different out here.
Its pointless (for example) testing appliances (PAT testing) that are plugged into a flat socket if they need to have an earth (round socket). Many of the tour operators are now getting health and safety consious but to be honest unless your fluent in Spanish i doubt you would get far as a pat tester etc.
ps if you get a small shock when you touch the back of your PC in tenerife it means its not earthed. Remove the flat wall socket and connect a round one which has the earth connection! |
