I have just had some news which is really horrible but was what some people thought: Smudge was poisoned. I have just spoken to someone called David whom I have met before and who does animal welfare work here and he said he knew who found his body and was told a cleaner later put him in the bin because they didn't know whose cat it was and that another cat had been killed the same way a week ago. David told me there are people who hate cats here and they don't care if its a pet or a feral one that gets killed! So I am right to worry about Tiggy and I will be glad to leave this place if there are people like that here! Sad

I've only just joined this forum, but I did see pictures of your darling Smudge and his little dolly collection. That is soooo sad - I know I'd be in bed with a pint of ice cream and a bottle of rum if anything happened to my babies, Moss and Fynn - Please know you've got the best wishes of a fellow cat-lover. Why are there so many cat-haters there? Whats to hate?

I cannot understand these sort of people at all and never will. But it's not just here. Cats get cruelly treated by some people in many parts of the world, as do dogs and many other beautiful creatures. Wales which I have left very often has stories of animal abuse in the press. It makes me feel ashamed of being human!

Im so sorry to hear that Bard.

The people here dont have a clue when it comes to animals, its disgraceful!

Just the other day a friend of mine called me to come and have a look at a kitten, no more than 4 weeks old, which some spanish men were setting their dogs on in the min town square. He rescued the little thing and with luck she should be ok, but it makes you wonder what goes on in these peoples heads!

That is such terrible behaviour you've described but I'm not surprised that it was men. In my experience it is usually men who are so cruel! I expect they thought it was macho or something to show how tough their dogs were! It's sick! Twisted Evil

If I ever need someone to look after Tiggy if I have to go away you're my first choice!

I am so sorry to hear that. My cat is a huge part of my family, and i can tell you there is nothing macho about abusing a harmless animal. I am very sorry for your loss.
