| hi folks, great forum and a lot of sensible discussion... myself and my wife love tenerife and always stay in the mare nostrum complex. we would love to buy a property in that area and was hoping for any comments on the surrounding areas, which we have not visited, such as adeje, las galletas etc.. is arona the best place to live or is there somewhere even better, would love your comments... thanks in anticipation |

Are you planning on living here permanently, or renting your property out some of the time? If it's the former, I'd look a bit further afield than Arona/adeje... in the hills a bit, or along the coast. Not only are the prices cheaper, but it's more pleasant to live out of 'resort' in my opinion. If you are going to need rental income, then your best bet is to buy in resort. _________________ Buy & Sell your stuff online FREE - www.canarianexchange.com - eBay for the Canaries |

Hi cymro, a big welcome from me too.
Agree with Kirsty if you are thinking of living here would think it would be preferable to be in a quieter area, rather than amongst all the noise, clubs etc.
We live in Palm Mar which is near to Las Galletas and we love it, they are still building here but Palm Mar is residential only, they do not allow Holiday Companies to block rent places etc. There are also no hotels here.
Maybe you should have a good look at the other areas too. Exciting time for you though |

Thanks for your input sunny, sound like both you and kirstyjay, know the ins and out and given me something to think about.
Agree about the quieter area, as living permanently is very different to holidaying there.
We are going to come out in the new year , where I will hire a car and do some serious reaserching into the different areas, off the coastline.
Does Palm Mar have facilities such as resteraunts, a couple of nice bars etc |

Palm Mar will be nice in a few years, however it's still in development at the moment. It'd be a good investment, but you'd have to drive out of the area to find some decent restaurants, methinks. I live in Chio, which is in the hills... sort of south west... I love it here, but it's not for everyone. You could try Playa San Juan or Alcalá... both nice Spanish villages on the coast. _________________ Buy & Sell your stuff online FREE - www.canarianexchange.com - eBay for the Canaries |

When it's finished, they are apparently going to have a water taxi that connects Palm Mar and Los Cristianos, which should be good... as the only way to get between the two at the moment is to brave the Guaza traffic jams and it's about a 15-20 minute round trip (without traffic). _________________ Buy & Sell your stuff online FREE - www.canarianexchange.com - eBay for the Canaries |

Hi cymro, we do have some nice restaurants here and more due to be opened in the future. At the moment we have 2 tapas bars, 1 spanish bar/restaurant, 1 English bar, 4 restaurants serving good food, plus El Rancho which has been here for years. Recently the Medical Centre has just opened, 24 hour service, Bank just opening Santander, two ATM's
We also have a have a hairdressers, belgian patisserie/bar, 2 estate agents (yes they get everywhere).
There is also a Commercial Centre being built now.
So the future of Palm Mar is looking very good, we knew when we invested over 4 years ago that it would take time to develop, but is coming on very quickly now.
The water taxi is in the proposals, but with anything here you cannot really believe it until you see it. You can avoid the Guaza traffic by travelling at quieter times.
If you want anymore info do let me know, think it would be worth a visit.
Cheers |

Welcome to the forum I am sure you will find what you are looking for here.
I have only been to Pal Mar a couple of times but I really liked what I saw. The layout seems to have been planned really well. Could lessons have been learned from previous mistakes in more established resorts.
I heard that there are plans to develop the beach area. |

Hi Cymro and welcome to the fourm.
The Mare nostrum asrea is very expensive to buy to live. I live out near the airport and we like it here. It is much cheaper and quieter. lol
When you are on hooliday you want to be in the middle of everything, when you live here it may be different.
There are some really nice areas that will have restaurants and things to do, but are slightly further out. There has been a lot of chat about place on here lately...lolHave a search round forum and you should find all you need. _________________ Find out more at www.myspacetenerife.com

Hi Cymro and croeso to our forum
There are so many areas you could live in that it is best for you to come out and have a good look around. Perhaps rent for a while to get a better look.
Or tell us what sort of things you'd like around you: swimming pools are generally only on complexes in tourist areas; do you want a Spanish village? coastal? busy? quiet? expensive? cheap? The more you can tell us, the more likely we are to come up with some good examples for you. |
