Hello
I got everything sorted at the beginning of February and it was simple, I did it in Barcelona, but the it should be the same in Tenerife
1. Get Social Security Number (needed passport and 2 photocopies)
2. NIE number (passport, 2 photocopies, 2 photos, I had a work contract but I don't think this was necessary)
3. Empadrionmiento (Proof of address, I had a letter from my Landlord)
4. Register with a doctor.
5. ID card - haven't done this yet, and it would be different in Tenerife anyway.
Anyway just thought I would add my 2p worth because noone told me what I needed to get when I came here.
By the way all you need to work is your social security number.
Hope this helps someone!

I think that some kind soul has already posted an e-copy on this forum. Strips, I think. Anyway, I downloaded it about 3 weeks ago. It's now completed and I'm taking it to a police station (in person) when I visit in December. Hopefully, it should be fairly straight-forward.. |

Aaah, yes. Thank you, Estate. Your note has corrected my recollection. It was the (helpful) translation that was posted, and not the form.
Nice one... |

Is that all it is one page long?
Am i able to print this copy off and fill it in and hand it in to the police station?
or do i need a proper copy?
sorry its probabaly a really dumb question, but i wouldnt want to fill it in to find that it won't be any use at a police station.

| I printed a copy, completed it (by hand) as far as I could. I'll then hand it in at the police station with relevant supporting documentation. Hopefully, it will be okay... |

| The form can be filled in on ur pc and the police station do prefer that but will also accept it done by hand. Remember you have to present 3 copies of the form all of them signed and filled in. along with other relevant documentation. |

You have to be carefull at the moment. we have posted about this. There are new rules that seem to be in place at present.
you need to fill in the form yes. (a translations is about on here) You need to take 2 copies and your passport and a copy of that, but now you also have to take some sort of documentation relating the the reason you are applying..eg a letee from the school, a paper saying you are buying property or a letter confiming a job offer.
Some people have had real trouble getting their NIEs....this is relatively new though, becahuse as late as July this year it was still easy to get as a friend of mone got hers. _________________ Find out more at www.myspacetenerife.com
