Would anyone know of a number that I can call from a BT landline that would provide me with cheap calls to a Tenerife mobile. At present the cheapest I have found is 25p a minute.

thank you

I used to have a number but I lost it. My parents recently switched to Talk Talk and they can call me free at any time. They got their first bill and had been charged for a couple of calls so they queried it. Apparently they have to dial an access number before my number and if they leave too long a gap in between dialing the numbers it charges. What they have done now is programmed the code and my number into their phone. Talk Talk refunded the calls they had been charged for.

If you type " cheap calls to spain from the UK" into Google it brings up loads of different options for you.

If they have a computer they could use VOIP cheap, this gives free calls to landlines in Spain and UK and 10c per minute to mobiles in Spain or 6c to mobiles in UK.

I guess it's because people earn more in the UK and get more benefits when not working so can afford it Wink Laughing

Thanks everyone for your advice. I just realised that the mobile Im calling (Vodaphone) also charges the receiver, so its a bit pricey all round.

Ill look at the options you suggested.

many thanks.

If they are here permanently and are renting long-term then it may be worth their while getting a land line installed. If not tell them to get a Spanish SIM card - most come with a similar amount of credit to what it costs.

Well I can assure you that my parents ring me 3 times a week and have only been charged for two of the calls. As I explained earlier in the thread there was a reason for those two calls being charged and they were credited with the cost. Why would Talk Talk refund the cost of the calls if they should have been charged anyway?

I did Undercover and you are correct nased on their tarriff. I am however basing what I have said on my parents actual phone bills over the three months they have had talk talk. I will mention this to them next time we speak and see what happens.
