Post subject: Tap water - is it safe? |
|
|
I normally buy bottled water for drinking and have done back in the UK but I have been cooking with tap water here. Some people say it is OK to cook with and OK to drink but others say it isn't due to heavy metals and bacteria. Personally I wouldn't have thought water with dangerous bacteria would be allowed for public use seeing as even the anti-Tenerife water brigade use it for cleaning their teeth it appears.
I am not worried about bacteria because they would be killed in the cooking process and as I said people who say the water is bad don't seem scared of using it for cleaning their teeth. I am concerned about a regular potential intake of metals like lead and other toxins. I can see it leaves a lot of limescale and am not worried about that if it is calcium based, however, some people suggest it is a mixture of chemicals.
It seems to me that those who say it is dangerous also tend to be those who moan about Tenerife. Some people I have encountered claim the opposite and say it is good for you and comes from underground springs!
Is there anywhere that this can be found out about with something a bit more trustworthy than opinion to back up claims? _________________ Find out more about me here: http://www.myspacetenerife.com/index.php?page=view_profile&id=10 |

| In my opinion the only safe water to drink is distilled water. Pure H2O. Flouride and Chlorine are both highly dangerous toxic poisons yet both are put into 'drinking water' and called safe. Bottled water has many minerals which the body does not need and which it works hard to get rid of. |

I agree about Fluoride and Chlorine, Rob! In fact I always seek out toothpastes that have no fluoride although this can be quite difficult at times and I tend to go to health shops to solve this! The crazy thing about it is you have to pay a lot more to have a product without the added toxin! Do you know where you can get distilled water here? I would have thought that was even more difficult. _________________ Find out more about me here: http://www.myspacetenerife.com/index.php?page=view_profile&id=10 |

| you can buy distilled water at chemists. Salt makes a good teeth cleaner. I've often thought of making my own water distiller, should be easy with the weather here. |

Thanks for the info, Rob! Distilled water is best for making colloidal silver and I have a colloidal silver generator and like to use the stuff if I feel I'm under attack by any bugs going around. I have used bottled water but now will get distilled. Is it expensive though? _________________ Find out more about me here: http://www.myspacetenerife.com/index.php?page=view_profile&id=10 |

| Yes but our conversation made me look into it on the net. Solar distillers don't have a good name due to the fact that the water is not boiled and they are not airtight allowing potential bugs. However there is a company producing electric distillers for $99! |

Where do chemists get their distilled water from? They would use it to make up medicines and prescriptions so I would have thought they would need to have the best quality, although perhaps not seeing as they will happily sell you fluoride and other toxic substance containing products! _________________ Find out more about me here: http://www.myspacetenerife.com/index.php?page=view_profile&id=10 |
