| Hey there. Im moving to Tenerife at the end of this month and am trying to find out what the options are for telephone service. I have found the Telefonica website - is this the only option? |

| Hi Dave and welcome, yes Telefonica have a monopoly on services but you can call through companies such as lowcall (see our directory) which is far cheaper for making calls. |

| Ok thanks Rob. I noticed on another posting that there is limited availability of new lines - is there a long waiting period then? if this is quite important to me should i just make sure the place i rent has a line already? thanks |

| you won't find many rental places with telephone lines because so many tenants dont pay the bills. If you dont pay the house/apartment has to. the debt is owed by the apartment not by the user. You'll need to get the agreement of the owner to install a phone, possibly to get a bank guarantee. |
