Post subject: Hi! |
|
|
| We've been here now since november 2002. We came here for a holiday in sept 02 and rented an apartment in valle san lorenzo (3beds, 2 baths 630€, furnished and bills included) and then went back to England to give my months warning at my job and sort everything out and then returned in november. We have done everything ourselves, nie numbers, social security and residencia-cards with hardly any problems. We were considering doing the paper work through an agency but thought that 200€ was way too much for that so did it our selves and saved the 200€ and probably quite a lot of agro as well as a lot of companies on the island don't seem to know what they are doing. We are buying a house at the moment and a lot of the estate agents are very incompetent. If you want a cheaper apartment you better looking in towns like valle san lorenzo (you can get a lot cheaper apartment than the one we first had), la camella, buzanada, los abrigos, el medano etc towns that are off the resorts. Also if you want to get a really cheap apartment and you really don't mind where u're living, there are places like el fraile, guaza, cabo blanco that are really cheap in rent and also to buy and they are very multinacional places (lots of africans and south americans) and especially el fraile is bad for planes. |

Hi Katja
3 beds and 2 baths for 630. Where did you get this from all the internet search engines and even property estate agents that do rentals are all
' holiday type' stuff that are 630 a week never mind a month!! Can you tell me how to find long term rentals that are value for money and out of any tourist areas. Local papers???? Local letting agent websites???
Many thanks, Karl |

Hi Karl!
It's quite easy to find apartments for this price or even cheaper, you just have to make sure that you're looking outside the tourist areas. Obviously the easiest way to look for an apartment is to be here yourselves and read the local (English and Spanish) newspapers and also ask the local estate agents. Eventhough they don't advertise long term rentals they often do have them. You can always contact them from England as they normally have their email addresses on their web pages. The best way to find the local estate agents is to just put inmobiliario tenerife or estate agent tenerife in google. Most of the estate agents have got both, an English and a Spanish version of their sites. You could ask your brother to check the English newspapers for you. He can get them free from almost any British establishment, for example from Equipo Hire in La Camella which is not far away from Buzanada.
Hope this helps!
