Thank you all so much !!
The help and support i have been given from you all makes me feel tonnes better and alot of questions running around in my head have been answered. I know it isnt going to be an easy ride , trying to build a new life.
I have taken all on board all the negative and positive comments and advice from you all . I have heard of people staying in party mode for a while, and just spending like theres no tomorrow and does end up back in the uk.
Im coming over beginning of Feb to put my daughters name down at a school and have another good look around at accomodation, i know its not until July were over but before we know it we will be over .
It would also be nice to put faces to all these nice words
Thanks again

Maxine...just a note on the schools....they have 3 or 4 weeks in April where they do an intake for the next year.
Some schools will not take names before this as they want all the paperwork when you book them in for the september...
I would suggest that you come over at that rather than or aswell as feb....this way you know that your daughter is in.
i know people who put their childrens name down in the january and when they came back the places had been taken...
Just a thought to help you on your way.. _________________ Find out more at www.myspacetenerife.com

well you could do both.....I would strongly suggest it lol.....when you come in feb you could start to get all the paperwork in order so that when the intake opens you can go to the school and register her straight away.....just to guarantee a place...
The paperwork needed varies slightly from school to school, but if you get everything then you can't really go wrong _________________ Find out more at www.myspacetenerife.com

Well it looks like a couple of visits now you have strongly suggested it ---- anything for abit of sun and a site seeing holiday.
I will get onto all the paper work straight after xmas , when you say paperwork do you mean what is needed for the new school, reports etc.

Paperwork need for the registration differs.....getting everything together could cut time...
NIE
Certificado de Domicilio
Social number
works contract
full birth certificate
up to date vacinations list
up to date photos
passport copies of daughter and parents
Some schools will not want all of it...when you come out in feb find out from the school of your choice what they require....they should give you a list.

Usually when registering your child, in order to have school dinners and the school bus they ask for your 'certificado de la renta' which is a document from the hacienda stating your earnings in Spain during the last fiscal year, however you need to have a work contract to get one of these and if you have only just moved out, chances are you won't have one...
Now, I had to recently translate for an English woman regarding this at my school and the school said that this was not necessarily needed, as you can pay the 2€ a day for the meals, however what WAS needed (even if you choose not to have school meals) was some sort of indication of an income going into your Spanish account... this can simply be a photocopy of your Spanish bank book showing an amount going into the account.
Don't ask me why, as it sounds like complete garbage to me and completely pointless, however despite the fact that this student's mother was going to pay for the meals herself, they still required this proof.
I have given up trying to understand the whys and wherefores of the Spanish paperwork system... _________________ Buy & Sell your stuff online FREE - www.canarianexchange.com - eBay for the Canaries |

Oh....well I didn't need to produce anything lol....lucky me...The bus for our school is free....and all I had to do for the school meals was sign a piece of paper with a letter that I wrote in spanish...lol stating the amount I earnt a month..
funny thing is they never asked for anything since lol...but I do now have my nominas aswell...
Once you go to the school....they will give you a list and you can work from there....spanish paperwork goes on forever BUT once you have it then there is no need to do anything again.. _________________ Find out more at www.myspacetenerife.com

Good luck with this folks. Things may seem impossible at the beginning. Hopefully you're fast learners, and don't be frightened to be slightly sceptical at times.
Went back to UK for a couple of days before Xmas and it was like walking into a black and white film. Oh so dreary! _________________ Red Arrow Money Exchange means discounts for all! |
