Jama,
It would translate to = I want to return to the house
if you take the la=the out it translates as = I want to return home
By putting la in the sentence it changes the meaning of casa, which means both house and home. |

Oops, my mistake. I misread the original sentence and, for some reason, "saw" the word la, referring to a specific house, rather than home (hogar)... sorry.... |

Ezzy, in simplistic terms, nouns are either masculine (el) or feminine (la) in the spanish language. In this context, the words el and la are definitive articles because they serve to 'define' the nouns with which they are associated. So, in this particular instance, relating to 'casa', preceding it with 'la' serves to define/specify a particular house, or refer to houses, in the general sense; the ommission of 'la' refers to a house that, presumably is already known e.g. your own home (which you should already know!)
I hope that this is not too confusing. Once you start to embark on a program of sustained learning, it will be a concept that you will quickly learn.... |

Ezzy, I'm delighted that you found my, somewhat convoluted guide comprehensible.
BTW: I happen to have quite a liking for Jammie Dogers. I have just returned from a vigorous 4 mile run. So, perhaps I've earned one-or-two, as a treat...? |
