Post subject: Bono card system |
|
|
Can anyone tell a little bit about how the Bono card system works? I need regularly from TFS to PdlC and also locally in the PdlC area. I know it gives appr. 50% discount, but is it personal or can it be used for more persons? Does it carry a number of "clips" that can be used up, or?
How about the tickets for transport in the local area. Are they also bought from trip to trip using the Bono card or do you buy a 10-trip card?
Thanks for your help!
Regards,

Ok the bono bus is a card credited with say 20€ you insert this card into a machine on the bus and tell the driver where you want to go, if there are various people traveling you insert the card per person, you do this every trip you take on a local bus and the charge is discounted from your credit, its a little like having a credit card, but once your credit runs out you get a new one.
Don’t understand your location very well though could you maybe explain more so we can help. |

Thanks estate_girl for a very fast reply! I actually thought that PdlC was a common known abbreviation for Puerto de la Cruz. But then I - and you - learned something new.
So the Bono system is just warm air? Not much idea in prepaying your bus ticket in my opinion. I thought that this somehow gave a discount
In general it is pretty cheap to use public transport compared to the crazy prices in UK (don't live in UK but travel there often). However I paid 1.50€ for a single 2 km trip locally in Puerto the other day compared to 6.30€ for a return trip from Puerto to Los Silos. Is there some kind of discount system for short local bus trips?

There is every point in buying bono cards, particularly if you are going to use it regularly. You save various amounts on fares, averages around 30% I think. More info on the titsa website _________________ .

I reiterate rob's comment. If you are going to use the bus system in Tenerife a 'Bono-Bus' is a must have. It does indeed give you discounted fares, and journeys over 20kms enjoy a 50% discount. Last night I travelled from Tenerife North Airport in to Puerto, and using my 'Bono-Bus' it cost just one euro fifty cents.
The card can be bought for either twelve or thirty euros. So long as there is credit left on the card it can be used by more than one person, and on the same journey. _________________ Don't follow the 'MySpaceTenerife' link under my avatar because you will learn nothing about me.

Well Stripps I thought that too and did not want to say it. I thought I would wait and see how long it took you to ask. I did not have to wait long LOL. |

There is another advantage when purchasing a 'Bono-Bus'.
Sometimes you may choose to use two buses to reach a destination although there may be a later service to do the journey in one. Paying by cash you will be charged two separate whole fares.
If you use a 'Bono-Bus' when you insert it in to the machine on the second part of your journey it recognises your original departure point. It will only deduct the amount required for the fare as if you used only one bus. If you have already been debited with the correct fare it will register a zero debit. _________________ Don't follow the 'MySpaceTenerife' link under my avatar because you will learn nothing about me.

Post subject: Discount with BONO Card |
|
|
| Hi Well I knew what you meant. If you use your BONO card you get a 50% discount, even if you dont have the full amount on the card. They are €12 or €30 and last a full year. Some local fares are even free if you are on a return trip within a short time. |

hi
its definatly worth getting the Bono card you get €12 or €30 euro ones and I got the bus to Santa Cruz the other day and was behind two paying people it cost them 6.90 euro and it cosy me 3.75 euro then also if you go on another bus within I think its about two hours you get that journey for less as well, i went on one one day and the second part of the journey on another bus was 30 cents!! and they are easier on the bus you just put in your card and say where you wan to go. I went from Costa silencio to puerto the other day on the bus. When they get low on credit it is printed on the card and you can use the remainder of the credit then pay cash for the rest of the journey. If you are getting the bus alot it is well worth having. And buses go pretty much everywhere.
