I live Callao and the short answer is there are not any, sorry,
There is a beach with imported sand north of Santa Cruz but thats an hour and a half away, if the traffic is good.
The best beach near Callao I would say is Playa San Juan, or the Del Duque beach is quite good. _________________ Need a cleaner in South Tenerife ? Cleaning just got better... www.maid4tenerife.com

It does look like its private but no its not. The back of the Bahia Del Duque comes out onto it and it can be used by one and all.

The Del Duque and Las Vistas (Los Cristianos) beaches are the best for general use. Neither are actually golden sand, as they have a light grey sand if you look at it up close, but it appears quite golden when the sun hits it. You can see its true colour though if you pick up a handful or look at it on a cloudy day. Either way, its a lot more attractive than the black sand at Troya (Las Americas - by Veronicas) and Medano beaches and other beaches further up the coast.
So Jojo, did you manage to book your parking spaces then?
Sorry, I couldn't resist... _________________ My Paranoia-Management Therapy is going great! Now they're only watching me half the time.... |

P.S. if you really want a sandy beach, go to the one Karl mentioned. Its called Playa de las Teresitas. The sand is pure golden sahara sand imported from Africa. The beach is quite large too, and has an amazing cliff and palm tree backdrop. They've spent a lot of money renovating the area too, and have even driven out some of the long-standing stall owners, who despite being honest traders, didn't quite fit the new image. The beach is about 5 minutes drive from Santa Cruz straight up from the Paseo Maritimo in the harbour. Its signposted so you can't miss it. Don't bother at sunny weekends though, every Canarian and his dog descends on the area and its like a tin of sardines _________________ My Paranoia-Management Therapy is going great! On the point of Las Teresitas beach, if you look at the majority of postcards, web pics or even hard backs on Tenerife the sand looks quite white.
These pictures must have been doctored because everyone I have spoken to has said the sand is yellow. as sand from the Sahara would be. _________________ Need a cleaner in South Tenerife ? Cleaning just got better... www.maid4tenerife.com

| Oh and don't go to Teresitas over or after Carnival weekend as it's full of people still partying or waiting for the alcohol to wear off before driving back to the south. |

Jenny, that actually sounds like a reason TO go !! Sitting on a beach watching the sun coming up, and sharing a "moment of clarity" with a bunch of drunken latinos. That´s the way I want to enjoy my carnival...
Is anyone going this year then, Or do I have to sit in the corner again with half a shandy and a packet of pork scratchings?? _________________ My Paranoia-Management Therapy is going great! Now they're only watching me half the time.... |

It was a joke - though meant seriously for anyone who wants a quite day at the beach with the family!
One year I went as belly-dancer and part of the costume was my bikini so just took a towel...and sorted (no beach bum icon!) |
