Hi, i'm 18 and have just finished my Alevels and now have a year to kill before i go off to uni next september. I would love to work abroad and was thinking of Las Americas. This is purely because it seems like great fun and you don't need to be fluent Spanish!
I have GCSE Spanish and Alevel French so am pretty competent at Spanish and could chat all day in french. Will it matter that my Spanish isn't at a superior level? Also, when researching for Jobs in France/Swizterland they have often required a minimum age of about 21, will the same apply to Southern Tenerife?
I have loads of experience in bar work, waitressing and have been on special courses for customer service. I would love to work as bar staff although i wouldn't mind doing PR work too. As it would just be me on my own is it unreasonable to expect to live on just one salary? I understand that the cost of living is much less than in the UK.
Also, would i be more likely to get a job if went out there in person and physically went into the bars/clubs to enquire after jobs rather than just phoning? Is it too late to get a job now that we are coming up to the peak summer time? Are jobs easy to come by?
I think that's everything, i'm sorry to have so many questions, i looked through the other posts to try and answer most of them. Any help would be really appreciated Thank you!

Your Spanish and French should be a lot of help. No, they don't bother with a 21 restriction. Yes, it is much easier to get work here by going around places and meeting people who might be able to help. You should be able to pay rent and have enough to live on if you get a regular job if it's one that pays well. Buena suerte!

I'm looking to go over soon, and i too am 18. It is provin more difficult to find apartments and i think it would be better to share really. Since i have joined this forum i have found someone who is willing to share an apartment so i've landed on my feet!!! Things will fall into place! x
