You can either apply for NIE at the National Police Station or via the Spanish consulate in UK. I found this:

Hello Jenny. The URL for the NIE forms at the top of this thread is not working. They have probably changed it yet again. I thought that I would let you know as I'm sure that you will be able to update it. I have faith in you!!!!

Just a question.
I am coming to live in Tenerife before the cold sets in again here in de uk after the summer.
nou I hav lived in Lanzarote before I came to the uk.
So I d o hav a no seguridad social and NIE nummer.
do I still need to register anywhere of some sort?
or is that enough?

I am told that if you have registered a NIE and a social number in another spanish island then that is all you need....you do not need to re-apply.....you may need to update the information like addresses and such

Quite right Strips it's a Spanish NIE not a Tenerife, Lanzarote etc. Once you're settled you should register with the relevant Ayuntamiento (town hall). When you have a job or work for yourself you'll register with the Social security for medical treatment, pension entitlement etc.

sorry to be a pain but im getting a little stuck with my form and i need a little help

Section 4 is asking for "DETAILS OF THE APPLICANT'S LEGAL REPRESENTATIVE IN CASES OF EXCEPTUACIÓN OF THE OBLIGATION TO PERSONAL PRESENTATION OF APPLICATION"

Does this have to be a solicitor or is this next of kin?

section 5 is asking HOME FOR THE PURPOSES OF NOTICES ?? what exactly does this mean

I hope i am using the most up to date form as i did totally check this site out so i didnt waste your time with questions etc..

p.s where do i sign .. x

Number 4 is only if you have someone else applying for you so leave that blank....

number 5 is the same addresss that you use for the main section 1.

You are supposed to sign in the presence of the police officer but neither I nor Judith were asked to sign.

Section 5 address can be left blank if it's the same as your home address further up the form.

Section 5 means an address (if different from the first) for them to send anything to you (which, as far as I know they never do!).
