I live on the Shropshire / Powys border... never ever in my near 40 years on this earth known Snow in the UK like it...... C Ouldn't get the car up the lane - took 30 mins of digging moving 2 meteres, digging move 3 meteres digging wetc etc etc

First posts today - been using an inferior forum recently and thank the lord I've found this one - great stuff.....

Our home is up for sale, and once it's gone, in goes my notice, over we come (wife kids and maybe the little dog).. and then the real work starts !
Have to say, it did cross my mind as I was having fun in the snow with the kids and building a massive snowman would I miss it all .... Time will tell of course.

If you really miss it there is always Teide with the kids. It is a bit of a fiesta up there when it snows by all accounts.

The good thing being that in an hour you can be back on the beach in your shorts.

Like they say if you miss the snow just go up the mountain and play in it for a day then come back down to the beach.......

Funny old thing - but I over heard my daughter saying something like tall your replies to one of her mates on Fri walking to school.... " when we move to Tenerife we can go up Mount Teide in the morning for a play in the snow and then play on the beach in the afternoon....." ... I like her style !

Jenny - I am actually a scouser by birth, have lived down here for near 11 years.... we live in the middle of the shropshire/Powys Triangle that is Oswestry Shrewsbury and Welshpool !!

Thought it was unlikely that someone local would be moving further than the next village Wink

However I guess you know some people from around that area having lived there 11 years. Did any of them go to Welshpool high?

Jenny - I could be rude and say I think some locals show traits of missing High Schools altogather but that wouldn't be fair !!!, We have not lived all 11 of our years in the current house, and to be honest many of our neighbours probably did 16plus as opposed to O and A Levels !!

Funny old thing though is that Welshpool High is down as one of my eldest daughter's proposed schools should we still be here in Sept....

How long have you been there Jenny?

If it's ice and cold you might miss then you might be interested to hear that they are building an Ice-Skating rink in Las Chafiras - close to the TF1 and also you have the Penguinarium at Loro Parque (12 tons of snow per day) is that enough for you???
