Hi there
When i went to Tenerife in may of this year i bought 1000 ciggies at gatwick. The bloke there asked where i was going and stated i was allowed to buy them.
Now i came back with 800 of them and thought nothing of it. We didnt get stopped at customs either.

My question is ive now found out im only allowed to bring back 200 ciggies which is fine.

please can someone tell me what would of happened if customs had of stopped me and found these on me? Would i had to pay some fine, fee or would they have been taken away from me?

My friends just got back from the reef and had 2000 on her in the case but got away with it. How the hell did she manage that? She is always getting away with it as well. Told me that she has a secret and it never fails to work for her.
Makes me nervous just thinking about it.

Im going back to the reef on tuesday 2nd august for 10 days. my best friend has informed me she will buy 1000 fags and open every pack and take one out. That way customs cant do a thing to her as they are for her own personel use. Is this right?

Hope you can answer my questions as im feeling might nervous knowing she will do something illegal like that.

i always bring back around 800, been stopped a few times n they just take em off you! they let me keep 3 packs once though as they mu7st have felt sorry for me Razz

Thanks for that. Didnt they give you the chance to pay duty on them? Mighty mean of them taking them off you i think.

My mates just told me she is going to hide hers in the case. Cant see how that will work,lol

Anyone else got any tips? Where is Sara? Now she is very quiet right now.

i always hide em in my case, once when i went through i had 12 boxes n they never found em when they searched my case Twisted Evil

Have you had a late night flight that lands in the early hours? What is cutoms like then?

Im going to try and get in at least 4 packs and have a few hiding places. If i get caught then its my loss. I only want the fags for me. Prices over here are stupid.

Cheers for that though. I might just give it a good old go and see what happens.

i came bk at 12am in there were 4 staff on but usually after 1am-5am theres nobody on!

but wont they surely open or scan the box? u stil aint allowed to send em over Evil or Very Mad

i too thought about sending them but i didnt once see a post office when i stayed at the Tenerife princess in the south. That is where im going back again this time.
Anyone know of a post office i can use? I dont mind sending them to my sister as i can send them as a gift to her and hope to god they get through.

You think customs and excise haven't thought of that? A Post offices is called
correos here theres one in Los Cris near the mercedes showroom. Or in Pueblo Canario in Las Americas

I think i know what secret she is talking about.....
customs cant take anything off of you that is already opened so if you open every pack of ciggies you buy and take out a packet they are not aloud to take them off of you, so u can bring home as many as you like !!!
( a little trick my uncle told me lol )

Now ive had a girlie day with my mates and you must be right in what you say about the little secret. They told me the same thing.
One of the girls came back with 1200 fags and she opened every packet of them and took one out.
Customs stopped her and her friend and sister and they had done the same thing. They got a telling off but all played stupid and stated they didnt know they could only hae the 200 limit. Plus they stated they were all for their own use so they didnt think it was so wrong in bringing them back in.

Thanks for that hun. What a star you are for solving this puzzle. Hopefully i will have the same luck with the few packs i bring back in.
England makes me so angry with the prices they charge us a pack.

I know 4 different people in Spain who post fags to my UK address when ever I need them.. one women makes a living out of sending them to the UK shes been doing it for ages now!
