There is a new Indian restaurant open in Los Cristianos. It is called The Indian Restaurant and we had the best meal there last night. We have tried lots of the other indians in the area but this was the best so far. It is up behind the church in the street with all the clothes shops etc (sorry not more specific) and it is only small but the people who work there are english with indian chefs, anyone who likes a 'proper' curry should try it.

A lot of thought obviously went into the name
For some reason, Indian restaurants don't seem nearly as popular in Tenerife as in the UK. The Spanish aren't obviously too bothered about it, and perhaps the older English population don't get excited about Indian food in the way the younger generation do?
Chinese restaurants seem more popular here. The only problem is that very few of them are any good. _________________ My Paranoia-Management Therapy is going great! Now they're only watching me half the time.... |

I can highly recommend the Chinese in San Blas (Golf Del Sur) the one next to Taboos nightclub, not actually in the squares. I think it's called 'Oriental Palace' anyway closest one to the Golf Hotel or whatever it is now!
Eat as much as you like buffet (used to be €6.95 I seem to recall). Tables outside (inside gets soooo hot) and Wok direct...you select the meat and veg you want and take it to the counter, the chef Woks it the way you tell them you want it cooked...Curry, Chilli, normal...there's other choices too.
We've spent all evening in their before with friends eating and chatting, there's no rush and the owner always has a laugh and a joke with us.
Good food, highly recomended, although we did meet a couple last year that said they hated it (can't please everyone all the time I guess!!) |

There is one on San Telmo roadside approximately opposite the Pharmacy(above Las Vistas beach). _________________ Who am I? Find out more here: http://www.myspacetenerife.com/index.php?page=view_profile&id=17

I don't think many Spanish have actually tried Indian food. I have introduced my husband and his friends to it and they love it. All this talk of food is making me hungry!! _________________ Who am I? Find out more here: http://www.myspacetenerife.com/index.php?page=view_profile&id=17

Ezzy went there a few years ago and they TOLD us how many dishes we needed, we requested that an child meal be served with our main meal, it was brought with the starters, the drink was disgusting.
We just felt really uncomfortable, we paid and left (no tip) it still looks the same with the same staff too. However, to me you can't go past the Slow Boat, good food friendly, helpfull staff, and very reasonable.
Just remembered a "chinese" we went to in Lanzaroti about 5 years ago, "authentic chinese food" it took ages for the meals to come, they were average, untill I went to the loo, he had left the door of the kitchen open he was taking orders and then nipping to the local supermarket and buying frozen meals and heating them in the microwave. the only thing he had in stock was drink, we paid him and gave him a good tip for his cheek _________________ Failures don't plan to fail, they fail to plan

I agree Bob. The restaurant is very good indeed. Jan, Sean and head Chef Nishan welcome you with open arms and the service is first class. The food is Bengali Indian and like you, I highly recommend it.
As for the specific location. The place is situated on the high street, very close to the round a bout (from which you turn down to the harbour).
If you fancy a free meal, why not listen to oasis FM this week. You could "win a meal on air" at The Indian. _________________ Treble99

Sorry, but I beg to differ.
Went yesterday to The Indian restaurant that you mention, I was with my parents who are here on holiday.
True, the staff are very friendly, but as for the meal.... well, we all had different meals that included chicken and the chicken was tough in all three meals.
I´ve eaten curries for years and my chicken Korma was one of the worst that I´ve ever tasted.
The best curry house that I´ve found since moving here is the Tandori next to the Brum pub in PDLA.
Great tastes and flavours, always popular... and I think you will find that most of the customers are locals ! |
