Post subject: Will my UK PC work in Tenerife |
|
|
Hi all,
I am no IT boffin, so please keep your answers simple. I have a couple of PC's a wireless network and an external hard drive that I store all my MP3's and photos on. The question is will it all work over there, if not would it be expensive to make it work, or would you recommend starting again with new kit? If none of it will work including the external hard drive how would you suggest I get all of my MP3's and photos over there, on DVD's??

Are there any areas ADSL is not available? Can anyone give me a quick update on price (monthly) to have ADSL. _________________ Need a cleaner in South Tenerife ? Cleaning just got better... www.maid4tenerife.com

| If you move to small villages then ADSL may not be available. I pay 40€ per month with Telefonica for ADSL and get all land line calls to anywhere in Spain included. Where are you looking at living? I also have a 3-year-old. Are you going to send him to Spanish school? |

Hi Jenny
He will be going to Spanish school. Which one depends on where we live. My brothers daughter goes to one in Buzanada.
We have his health records and will be getting our NIE sorted out when we get there. Do they need a copy of our residencia application? Is there anything else we should be thinking about? We are hoping to enrol in April to start him in Sept when he will be four. Inbetween we are hoping to get him into a playgroup or something similar.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated

Hi again. I don't suppose I can give you any more advice than your brother. If I remember correctly you only need NIE and not residencia for enrolling your son in school - but when you decide which school he will go to then they will give you a list of all you need. I do remember that you need the vaccination card.
If you send him to nursery please check it out properly or try to find one that is recommended to you as there are a lot of bad ones, so I've heard.
Keep us informed of where you decide to live and what you do even after you arrive and when you've done it all, you could then help others who have questions! |

HI
ADSL is about 39.90€ a month plus line rental for phone which makes it about 53€. you normally get all call to land lines in spain or spanish island free. ADSL is unlimited supposedly. lol
it can take a while to be connected and i know that in knew houses out in el medano its not available yet.
schools however
you dont need a residencia unless its a specific requirement of an individual school.
you will need up to date immunisations records though and lots more paper work. depending on school, my children go to school in Los Abrigos.
hope this helps _________________ Find out more at www.myspacetenerife.com
