Hi,
Where should I buy car insurance in Tenerife? Also, is it the same as in England? Points on licence declared etc?

Hi Cat
Just seen that no-one answered your post on car insurance and wondered if you'd sorted it out. I have insurance with Linea Directa - Direct Line here. The advantage is that they have English-speaking staff to answer calls.
Can't help you regarding other question as never had a car in UK. |

I will give Linea Direct a call. My Insurance is up in the next few weeks and wondered if anyone else can rec who they use for their Car Insurance.
I am currently with Liberty in Los Gigantes.
Thanks. _________________ Need a cleaner in South Tenerife ? Cleaning just got better... www.maid4tenerife.com

Do it online karlb, you get a discount for online quotes with linea directa. My latest car is with Zurich, very cheap yet in the past I've found them expensive. _________________ .

Hi there
I use a lady called Anne Hobson for my insurances, she is very helpful and usually has very good prices.
If you want her contact details please let me know.
Cheers

Probably going to be a very vague question but another area we need to cover,
Is it as expensive as UK, what sort of price for a 1.2 3 door hatchback such as an opel corsa or a ford ka, or seat ibiza , per month?
I know it very vague but just looking for rough estimates compared to uk?
How much is ITV? And do you pay vehicle tax / road tax ?
Thanks all..... you all know I am not asking on behalf of me but the other half as I didn't even know what a rev counter was ha ha

You're right. It is a vague question. The UK varies a lot depending on which area you live in. I had a shock when I insured my 3 litre merc sports Fully comp any driver, 600 euros! A friend of mine without NCB pays that for third party on an opel corsa!
Andy and Julia 25 yrs pay 900 E fully comp on a 1.8 Ford Focus.
Road fund is based on engine size much cheaper than the uk for smaller cars.
MOT about 35 Euros _________________ .

So I am presuming that was what he was wanting to hear lol
Thanks Rob, you are a fountain of useful information !

I didn't actually find Linea Directa that cheap at all. I ended up using a broker, as I'm not very fluent when it comes to technical documents. They will also help you more if you end up having to make a claim, whereas the direct companies expect you to complete a claim form in Spanish, and naturally, when you are looking to take their money after an accident, they're not quite so willing to translate anything for you. _________________ My Paranoia-Management Therapy is going great!
