Post subject: A good bank in the south near Puerto Colon? |
|
|
Hi everyone,
I will be moving out in about 2 weeks and need to set up a bank account. Can anyone recommend a good bank near Puerto Colon or Fanabe area. It would be great if they have English speaking staff as although I am learning Spanish, banking involves a whole new load of vocab'!
I hear you can open a sterling account too where you can transfer between the two without charges?
thanks in advance forum folk _________________ Anyone know of any photography opportunities?? |

You could try Barclays. They are on the seafront at the far end of Fanabe where all the car parking spaces are. They all speak English and they don't charge to receive foreign funds. They do have some charges that are different from English accounts though, so do ask for details of all applicable charges before you sign up _________________ My Paranoia-Management Therapy is going great! Just to add - We opened a Non resident Account when we first came to Tenerife ( Sept 06 )with Barclays ES down there.
Very nice staff and new office, but we were charged a Non Resident Account fee, and a Monthly service fee, which no one told us at the time ?
We were told that we could transfer money from the UK Free, which we did through a Exchange Broker.
Barclays ES Head Office in Madrid charged us 1,400 Euro for the exchange. We complained to the local Branch here and they refunded our account, so be aware !!!
We now have a Resident Account, so I think it would be better to obtain your N.I.F No and open a Resident Account first, as they treat you differently when they know you are a permenant client.
Since then all good and staff very helpful.
Hope this helps & good luck.
