Hi guys im julie im 18 almost 19, currently at college but will be finishing in june this year woohoo!! Got my flight booked for heading out to tenerife in July, hopefully to live and work for the summer. I work in a bar back home just now and im getting trained as duty manager so im hopeing to get bar work when I go out to the island. Im staying with a friend out there for the first few weeks hopefully then would like to get an apartment which i can hopefully share with someone or a few people. Any advice on getting a job or apartment, or is anyone heading out at the same time??

Hi, good luck with the move, you sound really excited and enthusiastic - keep that up and you should find a job in no time.

To work legally you need an NIE number which you get from the police station - please search for NIE as their is loads on here about that. Some people are on the island for months before they get an NIE and are therefore working illegally. It is actually quite easy to get.

Once you have your NIE you can go round the bars and also network with anyone you meet. Oasis FM advertises jobs too and there is a section on here to look for job posts.

As for sharing - keep a look out in the accomodation section as people post stuff there if they too need someone to share with.

I am moving out there next week so I know what it is like, I have my NIE as I booked a 4 week package holiday to do some research and got it then.

Perhaps whoever your going to stay with in Tenerife for the first few weeks can start to put out some feelers for you??

thanks for all your welcomes guys, hopefully this site will help alot before i go out, plently of info i still need to read up on. Be great to meet some people who are in tenerife or are planning on going out to so if any of you are then let me no!
