Jenny, I think that you're really cool! ( Wink Wink ) How have you managed to develop such an accomplished grasp of the language? Do you write (in spanish) quite a lot, as you have an intuitive feel for the presence and positioning of accents and other punctuating marks?

Thank you Jama. I don't know why, I guess it's just a natural talent (the only one I have Wink Laughing ) I am a linguist y punto

Once you learn to speak it properly, the accents are easy as they are where the stress is in a word (not like French!) and if you use word it puts little red lines under anything that's misspelt or has the accent missing or in the wrong place. You can learn a lot like that if you have the Spanish Dictionary installed.

Ah, excellent, thanks for that. The mistake that I made before is ONLY enabling the spanish character set on the keyboard, but NOT in the dictionary. I'll have to look into that and get it sorted. Abrazos fuertes para ti........ Very Happy Very Happy

Jenny, I wonder of you can help here? I've just installed the Spanish Proofing Tools for Windows, which supposed to allow spell-checking/editing in Spanish. Something appears to be not-quite-right. Even when I deliberately misspell words and omit accents, the spell checking facility doesn't identify these glaring errors. Do you have microsoft version of the spanish dictionary, or a version from elsewhere?? Please help..?? Sad Sad

I have Microsoft version in Windows. Not sure what you can do there - that is a bit techy for me. Stripps' husband Neil might be able to help.

Jenny, I have a question for you..

If I wanted to say, "I should have gone to the bank yesterday", would that be correctly expressed as, "debería haber ido al banco ayer" or "debo haber ido al banco ayer"? Which is correct? ....or, neither?...

Cheers....... Very Happy

Hmm, interesting Ezzy. Perhaps it's the reference to banking that helps certain thoughts come rushing into your mind...? Laughing

Yes I am here now.

Your first suggestion is the correct one:

Debería haber ido al banco ayer = I should have gone to the bank yesterday.
