Anybody got any info on what's happening now that they've stopped giving it out as the system was "broken"? _________________ My Facebook |

Go to the Police Station in PDLA.
Pick up an application form which tells you what you need together with the form Modelo 790 (payment form for the bank 6.70 euros I think)
Get everything together and go back.
I think you will need (but check on the application form)
Passport. Original and copy.
Certificado de Empadronamiento and copy.
Photo
They have done away with Residencia cards and this is now a piece of paper in the form of a Certificate.
Think thats it unless anyone can tell me if I have missed anything..... _________________ Need a cleaner in South Tenerife ? Cleaning just got better... www.maid4tenerife.com

Update and information regarding residencias in Tenerife - Certificado de Registro
As of the 2nd of April 2007, you can now process the new Certificado de Registro applications at the national police station in Playa de las Americas.
The new forms have been printed and are now available. There is a processing fee, which has to be paid in the bank and the forms for that are again available at the police station.
All EU citizen's that have stayed or intend to stay in Tenerife for a period of longer than 3 months, are obliged to get themselves entered onto the foreigners' register - even those people who used to be exempt from having residencias under the previous legislation. If you already have a residencia you can wait until it expires.
This affects a lot of people who are currently living or working in Tenerife, and that under the old scheme, did not have to do anything except have a contract or work for themselves. Now they must go in person to the national police station.
Non EU citizens who are married / dependants of EU citizens have to follow a different procedure.
There is a help desk at the national police station, but if you don't know at least some Spanish you may struggle.
You can download one of the forms off the internet and the other is carbonised and you have to pick it up.

1. Passport. Original and copy.
2. Completed
3. Certificado de Empadronamiento and photocopy.
4. Payment of a fee of 6.70 euros using form Modelo 790.

I think it is great how you people who are resident out there help those who are trying to get their lives in order give yourselves a huge pat on the back

Well, that's all I've got so if you're right, Jenny, then I'm OK but won't be if I can't sort a new passport out by September, which I was going to do when I went back to the UK in July but that's looking more and more unlikely now seeing as I have failed to find any flights when I need to go. |

Not a correction hunnie....just spanish being spanish lol....Not quite sure why they are doing this certificates becasue they are not able to be used for ID or anything....you still need a photo ID aswell...
Rather odd.....and I am still to find out whether children need to get individual ones or not...
But those of you guys who your Residencias need not worry...by the time you need to change it they would have changed the rules...AGAIN _________________ Find out more at www.myspacetenerife.com

Thanks for the correction Stripps |
Well, that gives me yet another problem then!
I saw an article in one of the papers that said las Americas police station has insane queues for NIEs and that they only see the first 50 per day and that people pay other people to wait in the queues for them!
So now I have to get a Certificado de Empadronamiento from somewhere and possibly endure insane queues plus traveling to Las Americas and back! This is really depressing!
And I am wondering what happens if I fail to do this and what the advantages are of doing so? |

We have also read this Bard, futher we read that the reason they are doing this is almost like a census to see how many people are living here and from what we have been advised you do not have to have this, as long as you have your NIE and Passport, but you know what its like here. Personally for the moment we are sticking with our NIE and Passport. |
