To become empadranado is simple. Just register with your local ayuntamiento. Check the search here for what you need. _________________ .

We have also read this Bard, futher we read that the reason they are doing this is almost like a census to see how many people are living here and from what we have been advised you do not have to have this, as long as you have your NIE and Passport, but you know what its like here. Personally for the moment we are sticking with our NIE and Passport. |
It is rather because they could check the amount of people living here that are foreign by the NIE numbers....BUT not everyone gets them. What makes them think that everyone will now get the certifcate of registration..lol It is beyond me lol _________________ Find out more at www.myspacetenerife.com

I don't want to put the cat amongst the pigeons but .....
the new decree now requires ALL EU citizens planning to reside in Spain for continuous periods of more than 3 months to register in person at the Foreigners' Office (Oficina de Extranjeros) in their province of residence or at designated National Police stations.
And thats the law.
EDIT
Just noticed Stripps already put that. _________________ Need a cleaner in South Tenerife ? Cleaning just got better... www.maid4tenerife.com

Is there a full list of the benefits of residencia anywhere? I couldn't find one.
Will the new certificate be a valid form of ID then when booking ferry trips, flights etc for the resident discounts you get there? _________________ My Facebook |

Have you registered Karl and if so how long did you have to queue for? We thought we would wait until it all dies down a bit and then go and register when hopefully there are no so many queues |

I was there the other day just to get some forms for someone.
I will warn you now it is complete chaos lol
My advice take a book and get down there at 7am.
It was only because a nice policeman took pity on me I think with my broken spanish. He went and got the forms for me from another desk otherwise I could still be there now.
I already have my residencia card thank goodness. _________________ Need a cleaner in South Tenerife ? Cleaning just got better... www.maid4tenerife.com

It's crazy - how are people supposed to know this stuff? When did this law come in?
If I have to find a designated police station for this area how do I found out where that is? I don't know where any police stations are around here! |

Just looked on the Interior Ministry website and then the Police website and found a list of places for DNI so I presume it's the same for NIE and residencias:

I will make this day a happy one for I alone can determine what kind of day it will be. |

Not sure if this will help Bard but try calling
Local Police - 092
And asking them. Let us know. _________________ Need a cleaner in South Tenerife ? Cleaning just got better... www.maid4tenerife.com

Well that would explain why I don't know where it is!
If I have to go to Las Americas it's going to be insane and was bad enough for my NIE! Something else to worry about and have to get done! |

According to recent newspaers articles....Las Americas is the main one and they will not do it in santa cruz now...hence the busy police in LA.
As for list of benefits .....lol ummm.....there are not many.
If you want cheap ferries you can use your NIE..if you want cheap entry to parks..NIE and rent contract normally is enough...flights...I have used NIE number when booking and it has gone through...
This new form is a sort of ID but for card use and stuff like that they still need photo ID which this is not. _________________ Find out more at www.myspacetenerife.com

I don't go on ferries, don't go to paid admittance parks apart from cheap ones like the Botanico for 3€ and the Parque del Drago for 5!
I don't use credit cards.
As for flights I only wanted to make one to the UK and back this year and the way it's looking doesn't seem as if that will be happening now so no benefits at all to me especially seeing as I have NIE and a hell of a lot of hassle to get this new form!
Basically this would mean it is virtually impossible for many people to get there on time - people who live in villages and towns nowhere near Las Americas that depend on buses in many cases couldn't get there for 7am. By the time they do get there it would be too late and a wasted journey! With luck and leaving here at 5.45 am after walking to the station I could get to Las Americas police station by around 7.30. If I lived further north it would be later! |

I think you can still do the appointment system...book it in sanata cruz and then go to LA...only problem being that some people that have got down to LA have told they dont do it on appointments.....There has been a lot of this in the papers...
It even got to the point where they went down with an offical letter from santa cruz...then got the appoint lol.
The benefits are very little really....dont stress though bard...I am sure things will get themselves sorted and you will be OK _________________ Find out more at www.myspacetenerife.com
