Does anyone know what you should have at all times in the car.
I have (copies only)
Driving Licence
Car Insurance Cert
Tax payment receipt
Proof of ownership
My brother today got stopped and he pays quarterly for his Insurance. Because he did not have the latest payment statement from his bank for his last installment he was fined 60 euros on the spot. No ifs no buts.
I paid for the year and now have a copy of the signed payment in full received from the Car Insurance Company.
Anyone know if the documents I carry are ok? Are copies alright? I am sure I am missing a few things!!!

Copies are only ok if they've been certified ie stamped by traffico. _________________ .

Just to clarify the which documents need to be carried at all times :
valid insurance certificate/policy & proof of payment
Ficha Tecnica (card that details the specifications of the vehicle)
Permiso de circulacion (pale green card that states vehicle and owner details)
Driving licence (european licence holders are obliged to have their licences inscripted at trafico - although some say they have had no problems with this)
Official copies stamped at trafico (copia compulsar) of all the above (except insurance) are accepted as valid documentation.

Hello guys....
Been doing some searches for Car tax payments and it lead me here...
How do you know that a car you are buying has the last payment on car tax?
How do you know when it needs to be paid?
How much is it??
Where do I pay it??
What should you do if the garage has not shown you a copy of the last payment in the paperwork for car?
ermmmmmm thats it for now. Thanks _________________ Find out more at www.myspacetenerife.com

Dealers are required by law to pay (and charge you) for the next 12 months permiso de circulacion (RFL) and register the car in your name. After that the authorities are supposed to send you a reminder but often they don't. There used to be a period when the records were brought to your local town hall and you could go there to pay it. You can also go to traffico in Santa Cruz to pay it. If you get a reminder you can pay via the bank.
Cost depends on engine size. _________________ .

should the dealer give me a copy of the payment....and if he doest how doI know its paid...
sorry to ask silly questions....
I have bought a new car and the documents have been transfered into Neils name...we have the fisca technia thingy and the one with neils name on it....the ITV one and insurance...but not Tax...
The dealer showed us the Historia...and it was OK but i never got a copy of that either...and I am told that only is relevant for that day, as debts can be added after it.
Should I go back and ask for a copy of the Tax form as he kept all the papers in his box lol..

You should have a 'Ficha Technica' document as well as a 'permiso de circulacion' document. These as well as the insurance certificate should be kept in the car when it's on public property. Photocopy them and keep the photocopies in the house. _________________ .
