Hi Sunny

Who told you it was because of the mountain.

Even though its wireless the router still plugs into a phone line and runs down cables.

Shocked

Totally confused now Karl, think I must be thinking of something else, could it be bluetooth, as the chap that came to try and sort me out BEFORE we had the phone line told me. OR am I just showing myself up EVEN MORE lol lol Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed Maybe I should keep my mouth shut ha ha

Hi Sunny there is a company I know of that offers wireless internet without a phone line and you connect directly to them. However if you are not in a good reception area then maybe the mountain could be a problem.

However if your router is plugged into your phone line no mountain of any size is going to affect your service.

Kaybeam, Not sure about the exact make/ model that you're intending to purchase however it would be VERY unusual to get the carry case thrown in! Suggest you check this carfully, a case will cost you another £25 or more for a decent one

I've never known a laptop not come with the modem cable and power cable / adaptor etc. Do not get confused though the modem cable would be for a dial up (56Kbs) connection and not broadband (>=512Kbs)

If you're wanting to connect the laptop to a router using a CAT5 cable then this will almost certainly NOT be included as standard.

Have fun!

dell website quotes £349 for the inspiron but when you go to customise/buy it, it say that to get the 'HSDPA express card' for mobile broadband you have to pay an extra £129.25!! without this would i not be able to use wireless internet? Confused

Hi Kay if you scroll down you will see that under Wireless Connectivity the dell wireless is included.

I may be wrong so call and check with them. The card you talk about gives you access to the interNET wherever you are via the Vodafone network and I presume you will need to pay a monthly amount and have a contract with this. It would not be any use in Tenerife I dont think due to connectivity and Tenerifes location. Therefore you do not need the HSDPA card.

Make sense? Let us know.

The people that use this card throughout Europe are guaranteed connection to the internet via Vodafone (for which they pay). With your wireless option as I said before you can log on to an unsecured network or use your own wireless network at home.

Hi everyone,
I`ve bought a laptop over in UK and have brought it over to the Costa Blanca.
I will be spending several months at Camping Nauta, Tenerife every year.
I have a desktop here in Spain and an ADSL agreement with Telefonica which costs me about 70€ per month. which includes landline telephone calls.
I obviously dont want to pay this all over again for Tenerife so would be very interested in the wireless internet company for Tenerife or any other solution if you could give me their details. I am also in a similar position for TV programmes.
Thanks Dave

Broadband uses either the built in wireless or cable connection via the ethernet or network socket (same socket, different names)

Your router will come with a network cable for connection. This will be the cat5 cable mentioned previously. If you are using wireless, this cable is not needed. Hold on to it though, because in future you may decide to also have a desktop PC and that can plug directly to the router.

Sam.
