I do not drink and drive under any circumstances now. I would be a hypocrite if I did not say in my younger days I would have a couple of pints before jumping into my car and realise now how reckless that was.

I have seen people stagger and fall into there cars before driving off here in Tenerife.

Not only does it put your own life and passengers at risk it may put mine at risk as well.

Wanna drink, don't drive. Thats my opinion.

Thoughts anyone ?

When I worked in the pub in the Uk...I saw a lot of it.

I could only do so much to try and stop it. I would stop serving them..offer them a free ride home, get them a taxi and offer to keep the car till the morning. Sometimes this worked. Sometimes this didnt.

Apart from literally hiding their keys, there was not much else that I could do.

I saw loads of people try to drive home...even on bikes.

There this thing in the UK that if you worked in a bar...and rang the police if drivers left under the influence then you would be rewarded....

not sure how many that caught.

But like you say...If you want to drive...DONT DRINK

Totally agree with you karb, it is totally irrisponsible for anyone to get behind the wheel after having some refreshments.

Nothin wrong with refreshments, plenty of them but do not mix both.

we must also remember that we should watch out the next day as this is when most people are caught, not thinking that the alcohal is still in there system........

This reminds me of a poem I received a long time ago:

I went to a party,
And remembered what you said.
You told me not to drink, Mum
So I had a sprite instead.

I felt proud of myself,
The way you said I would,
That I didn't drink and drive,
Though some friends said I should.

I made a healthy choice,
And your advice to me was right,
The party finally ended,
And the kids drove out of sight.

I never knew what was coming, Mum

I wish that I could say, "I love you, Mum!"
So I love you and good-bye.

completely, more people should take heed of it, as there is still a lot of irrisponsible people out there.
