....where i live, there are a few livery stables, and LOADS of fields!!...but, what is so irritating to me at the moment is that horse riders are out in force, 2, sometimes 3 abreast in the road and they are so houghty and ignorant and some seem to think they own the roads!!...i am always aware of horses and leave plenty of space around them, i even turn my music off in case it scares them....i know the age old argument of "horses were around before cars", fair enough, they were, but in todays society there are too many vehicles on the roads for horses to be on them also. i have witnessed 2 accidents involving horses which have reared up in the road as a car has passed them, and the rider had no control whatsoever, and each time they were young people riding them..do they have to sit "tests" to take a horse on the road?? after all, they are big, heavy unpredictable animals and can cause a lot of damage...
.......horses should be frolicking in fields or jumping over stuff in them and NOT on the roads....phew, i'm glad i got that off my chest!! |

Same here Sara, John followed a rider who was on a field and just lost controll and came straight infront of us, he just had no idea, I got out of the car an actually calmed the poor animal down, for my efforts I got a mouthfull.
We did report the rider but nothing came of it, we also have carrage riders doing their paces on the main roads, with no road etequete. _________________ Failures don't plan to fail, they fail to plan

Personally I don't know why they take them on the road. Have Labour finally abolished fields and country paths? I mean lets face it, where can you go on a horse? You can't take em into the pub (even the ones that don't smoke), and you can't exactly tether them up outside the corner shop whilst you nip in for 20 Marlboro and a nudie mag!
Hell, I wouldn't even ride a bicycle on the road these days. As for horses, I don't trust anything without a brake.... _________________ My Paranoia-Management Therapy is going great! Now they're only watching me half the time.... |

Gottcha there Funky, there is a Pub in Jarrow, where a horse actually takes itself in for a pint, been photographed and televised, the new owner knew nothing about it, and nearly S**T herself when it walked in (followed by its owner)
But honestly the hors actually takes itself to the pub, owner has no choice.
