Post subject: Do televisions which are bought in the UK work in Tenerife? |
|
|
I have an apartment in Parque de la Reina and am moving to it permanently in December. I had heard that any televisions bought in the UK have a different frequency, so do not work. Is this true?[/b] _________________ CAT X |

Yes and no...
Its the sound that's different. However most new TV's are multi-format and you can change them from PAL I to PAL G.
If your TV is of the type that cant be changed it will receive sound from any EXTERNAL source such as a Sky box, PlayStation, DVD etc, but wont get the Spanish terrestrial broadcasts received via your aerial. |

Thanks for the info.
It's probably easier for me to buy one there, although the prices are cheaper in the UK for LCD's and Plasmas. Do you know of any good electrical stores on the island? _________________ CAT X |

| Yes there is a large Spanish run Electrical store in La Camisol, PDLA with a car park right outside. its opposite Tigre Tigre indian restaurant. They also deliver, often before you've made it back home yourself! |

Makum I noticed your post on a particular Electrical Store in PDLA near to the Tigre Tigre. I Have an apartment in Garden City and want to change the T V as I am told that because of its age it will not pick up all the Sky channells. First of all where is the T T? and will any modern T V do the job and how much can I expect to pay for say a 24" screen.
Regards
