As many of you will know we continually advise people to learn the language if coming to live here. When we offered Juum a job one of the conditions was that he learn the language.
There is a government language school in Los Cristianos the Escuela Oficial de Idiomas, they run a 5 year part time course for foreigners which results in a diploma. Anyone wishing to join must apply in April/May and then if accepted the course starts in mid Sept. Cost this year 50 Euros plus 6.58 Euros for books, dirt cheap!
I rang them yesterday to see if all the accepted students had turned up and luckily there were two midday places available. A quick sprint to Los Cristianos in Jenny's dirty car resulted in a place for Juum, his lessons are 12 till 2 on Tuesdays and Thursdays plus lessons on alternate Fridays. They hold evening classes as well but there were no vacancies in those, for those living here there's no excuse on financial grounds not to go. THIS IS NOT A REASON TO NOT LEARN SPANISH BEFORE COMING HERE. You can always join an intermediate or advanced course once you're here. _________________ .

thats actually excellent.....A friend of mine paid out for a course...$ week course ....thats cost 195€...she then went on and did the next course at the same price.
She still cannot speak much spanish.
I didnt realise there was a place like this Rob.
It sounds brilliant and very very reasonable in price.
I may even sign myself up in may as more qualifications is always a bonus.

it definatley sounds like a great course & cheap (as chips, to coin a local Tenerife phrase!) .... keep our fingers X'd that a few more drop out so we can squeeze in there too!!!
Our last private lesson with 'Will' here is on Monday eve, we have plenty of hand outs already, which are handy to refer too & learn from still & also the audio CD's Kaz's mum got from LIDL'S (haha ) & the BYKI.com too, but we still want to carry on with some lessons too.
We'll have to see whats available when we get there next week! lol _________________ RICH & KAZ |
