Post subject: Qualified translator (EN/FR/SP) looking for work in Tenerife |
|
|
Hello!
I am looking for translation work in Tenerife.
I am an English native with fluent Spanish and French and have a Masters degree in Translation, plus several years office experience including at a translation company in South East England dealing with technical and medical translation.
I specialise in Economics & Business translation as well as Scientific & Technical, but can translate any kind of document or text. I have fallen in love with Tenerife and would be grateful to hear of any language vacancies in any location.. I've heard that the 'large companies' are ones to investigate - I've only just started my job hunt so if anyone has any recommendations of who to target please let me know!
Muchas gracias

Hi Kate and welcome to our forum, although your qualifications may be rare in the UK, they're not here. It's extremely unusual for companies to offer jobs to someone not on the Island. Read the stickies and announcements for more info. _________________ .

go to the forum index and you'll see there are stickies to be read. It saves us having to repeat ourselves time and time again. look at living in tenerife and jobs in tenerife _________________ .

Hi Kate and welcome from another translator!
In case you didn't find them on the Index (main) page, the stickies are at the top of any section (eg the Living/Moving to Tenerife or this Jobs section). They really are full of useful information.
If you are fluent in Spanish then you have an advantage over many others who move over here without it nad many of whom have no interest in even learning the basics!
You really do need to move over first though as only a few people find a job before they get here. I am sure you could find work in an office if you speak Spanish and French.
Good luck and keep us posted. _________________ Who am I? Find out more here: http://www.myspacetenerife.com/index.php?page=view_profile&id=17

Yes, that's what we think is best. It also gives you time to look for somewhere more permanent to stay too. That way you actually get to look at the place before deciding whether you want it or not. Make sure you bring lots of copies of your CV with you and just walk around handing them out, or emailing them to estate agents etc.
Don't treat it as a holiday though as two weeks pass in a flash! _________________ Who am I? Find out more here: http://www.myspacetenerife.com/index.php?page=view_profile&id=17

As soon as I can really, at the moment my job is a temporary one with a 2 week notice period.
I have only just returned from a trip to Tenerife (can you sense my enthusiasm to return?!) and would need a bit of time to save for another visit, which I think I will do.
In the meantime keeping an eye on forum, etc _________________ Kate Morrow

Then get saving! But don't take advice on this forum about how to do that!! Most of them are still in the UK _________________ Who am I? Find out more here: http://www.myspacetenerife.com/index.php?page=view_profile&id=17
