We are in the process of getting an upgrade of our electric capacity from 15 Amps to 25 Amps (3 to 5 Kw). The technician (suggested by Depcsa) told us that this will cost 180€ to him (for his work incl. some hardware in the main switch panel and issuing a certificate), and then we must give him 300€ that he will have to pay to the central office in Santa Cruz. After all this is done the central electric office will supply new plombs in the main switch panel.

Just find this incredibly expensive (total of 480€) and the technicians work will take - I guess - 30-45 minutes. Of course if the 300€ is some kind of fee (tax) for the official paperwork, this is o.k., but would like to hear if others have tried the same?

Seem to me as some kind of extra tourist tax that I find it hard to believe local are paying with the low salaries they earn.

It's a while since I've done one but prices seem about right. Not sure about the 300 but seem to recall hearing of this before. You'll also pay a higher set fee every month because you have access to a larger supply.
Isn't your place a studio? Do you really need the extra?

Most locals will not bother upgrading, if they do they'll know some distant family member who won't charge for a bulletin/work, only parts.
