Post Post subject: New Bar in Callao Reply with quote

We went to a new place in Callao tonight. Its a bar / restaurant with plenty of outside seating and a lovely ambience.

I think its called La Creperie and its in the new centre opposite Summerfield.

The decor is classy, service very friendly.

About time Callao had an upmarket bar, no that I am a snob lol. A wee bit different to Beckhams and the other Englishy type bars.

Give it a try next time you are in Callao.

Karlb,

When I was over in July people I know who used to work at Beckhams Kate and John were opening a bar next but one to Paddy McGinties, it was not open when I left around the 13th, I did have a wee look in while the workmen were still there, can you tell me if you know if this is opened and what its like ??

Yes it is open Dianne. (used to be something called Krackers did it not?) I have only heard through a friend of a friend. Apparently it is a cabaret bar. From the outside it does not look big enough to swing a cat. I was also told they are only open in the evenings.

Next time I am let out to play I will pop, have a look, and let you know.

If I mention your name to Kate and John am I likely to get a beer or barred. lol

Cool

thanks Karlb,
you will certainly not be barred you'll be glad to know, when I looked in it was obviously not finished, they were hoping that it would open before I came back to the uk but think it opened the week after, some problem with the licence..... and the usual spanish" manana" from the workmen being the main probs.

it looks as if it has a horseshoe shaped bar and some seating inside and, outside it, kate and john Know me my mum and my two kids Zoe and Stephen if you say Dianne from Scotland I'm sure they'll remember me....tell then I am asking for them....
I assume you also know Bob who runs the George, And possibly Sandy who now runs the rat Pack ?? after his brother Ronnie gave it up.

Hi Karl,

Is this bar upstairs (used to be the Callao Cafe) on the opposite corner to Summerfield, near the bus stop?

Mary,

when I was over in July i think the place you maybe referring to was more a cafe than what I'd call a bar, upstairs on the top floor more of an open terrace area.

Dianne,

Yes it was a cafe, we had a snack there when we were over in July.
It did have a large terrace with a great view too.

I have seen it up for sale on the 'net' though since, so I wondered if it was now this new bar, but thinking about it there was a large empty place on the ground floor which could be the new bar.

Mary

Mary,

where did you stay when you were over in July ?? Have you been to Callao before ??

I am a timeshare owner at Tropical park I have great views from my apartment as well on the top floor, it is nice to see the building works slooooowly moving forward each time I visit.

Yes I have to agree the views from this cafe were excellent, there were a few empty units there I heard that the rentals etc were very high probably why they were empty...... would be nice to see them full next time I'm over though.

Callao Cafe is now closed and up for sale. The bar I am refering to is on the next floor down.

I saw the place you mean today Dianne. Its actually next to Krackers and is called La Nota. Not been in yet though. Will let you know when I do though.

Hi again Dianne,

We must have been on the 'Reef' at the same time, we were over from 29th june to 13th july.

We were actually staying in Puerto Santiago, but had previously decided to have a look at Callao (have not been there before but have stayed in Playa Paraiso)

We made 2 visits to Callao during our hols and are very impressed, it's our first choice of places to live at the moment!

We are back in Paraiso for a week next Feb, and will definately be paying another visit to Callao.

Shame about the cafe closing, the couple seemed very nice, but as you said it wasn't very busy.

We will have a look at the new bar recommended by Karl.

I vewed a few properties in my time there with my mum who has put a deposit down on an apt at Callao beach ( its up the road by Eddies hut ) where there still building. Yes I would also like to be moving out early next year, ( just not the time to sell just now in the UK so I'm waiting till the new year before putting my house on the market,
I'v also visited Prai paraiso in the past so I know where it is.
People I know have also opened a bar next but one to Paddys, make sure you pay them a visit when your over in Feb. The name is here in this post somwhere by Karlb.
