Post subject: K9 Secure Support from the Cabildo |
|
|
Hello again folks!
At last I can let you in on the outcome of a series of meetings we have had with the Cabildo in Santa Cruz.
A great outcome for the animals, but unfortunately it means a further postponement of our concert at the request of the Cabildo.
I think it is easier for me to copy the Official Press Release here so that you can all read it. This was prepared in conjunction with K9 and the Cabildo Press Office today and has been issued to all of our Media contacts:
The abandoned dogs at the K9 animal Sanctuary above Las Chafiras were wagging two tails apiece this morning as they received news of the support from the Islands Cabildo.
A late night meeting with Sr Bermudez, Vice President of the Cabildo, revealed that the Cabildo department were indeed going to offer financial backing for the proposed charity concert at Magma Arte & Congresos with international artistes “Tony Christie” and “Rosana”.
Ian Sharrock, Marketing Director and K9 spokesman said “We are delighted with this wonderful and very generous offer, Sr Bermudez has paved the way for us to achieve our plans and targets for the future of animal welfare in the archipelago. He also made it clear that the Cabildo would continue to support us in the creation of the “1 Voice Canarias” foundation that will help and support other refuges and animal welfare organisations throughout the Island of Tenerife.”
Sharrock went on to say “We regret the previous misunderstanding that led to a feeling of non cooperation and clearly see that the Cabildo, and particularly Sr Bermudez himself, has a deep and genuine concern for the plight of the Island’s animals. We look forward to a bright new future working closely together and apologise for any embarrassment that may have been caused through any prior misconceptions on our part.”
Sr Bermudez made an unprecedented and remarkable offer of financial aid to this hard working animal charity by promising to look carefully into a subvention to purchase a new 10,000 m plot of land in the South of Tenerife on which to build the flagship animal welfare centre that will become the base of operations for the exciting new “1 Voice Canarias” project.
The new date of the concert will be announced as soon as the artist’s contracts are confirmed.
Obviously as soon as we have more details I will let you know on here!
Thank you once again for your patience and continued support.

That's great news, well done to all and thank you to the local government for finally realising the need to do something. Let's hope that they'll start to implement the laws on animal keeping more strongly. _________________ .

That's great news! Well done for all the hard work you put into K9. You are an example and others should do more (and I include myself).
What could people do (apart from coming to the concert) to help charities like K9? I know they have a stall at the car boot but can people donate things for those stalls? Give us some ideas... _________________ Who am I? Find out more here: http://www.myspacetenerife.com/index.php?page=view_profile&id=17
I will make this day a happy one for I alone can determine what kind of day it will be. |

Well, where do I start?
First of all thanks for all your good wishes!
Yes we accept donations of items for our car boot sales, and keep the 'better stuff' for our popular auctions. We can usually arrange to collect things if we are going to be in the area, or can arrange for somewhere for you to drop it off for us.
As for what else people can do .... you would be surprised, and not all of them will cost you money either. Some ideas are:
Dog Walking - we always have dogs that need exercise
Annual Membership - only 35 Euro per year per family
Membership Discount Provider - if you have a business you can join our scheme to give incentives to our members upon production of their membership card
Prize Donations - for our many raffles, it can be anything and not necessarily related to your own business. For example you can just buy something and donate it, DVD player, MP4 Players or similar.
Sponsor a Kennel - for an amount of 250 Euro for a single or 500 Euro for a double, you can sponsor a Kennel for a year
Collection Boxes - why not have one of our boxes in your business so that people can throw their loose change into it?
Poster Displays - You might have room to display posters for upcoming events, let us know and we will make sure we e-mail you copies of everything
Venues - throughout the year we have loads of different kinds of events, is your place suitable for one of our Functions?
Entertainers - we have a lot of friendly entertainers that will give up some of their time to perform at one of our events, but are you an entertainer that we dont know yet?
Why not kit your staff out with K9 Merchandise - we can arrange for T-shirts, etc to be branded up with your logo and the K9 logo to show the world that you are proud for sponsor K9 Tenerife
Events - You could arrange your own event, sponsored something, quiz night or whatever in support of the animals. Let us know though so we can advertise it for you and also come along so we can join in as well!
Donations of things we need and use on a day to day basis - food (for the animals), paper, ink for the printers, feeding bowls, dog beds, blankets, towels
Websites - Do you have a website, can we exchange links with you?
There are loads of other ideas, but I dont want to get in trouble for 'taking over the forum'
If anyone wants any more details, or has any other ideas, please let me know!
Cheers

We do have a day or two which we have to our selves for some nice walks planned and we would love to come and take a doggy or two for a walk would that be ok? How do we get to you from Orlando in Puerto Colon ? We would try and get there late afternoon or early morning as it would not be nice for them to be out in the too warm sunshine.... it may stop us missing our Tipsy Tallulah too much he he
