A month back my Telefonica account got in a mess because there wasn't enough in my bank to pay the bill which bounced but luckily I paid the amount in directly and all was OK.

I was hoping that they would go back to the usual method of debiting my bank account and I decided to get a Telefonica online account to see if I could manage it that way. I waded through it all and appear to have joined and at the time I attempted to pay the bill I found online for my number. I didn't get any receipt email for this and have had no paperwork from them since. I see from my bank book that a bill was paid on 2 Nov but then on Friday I got an email from them about paying Factura sin papel and thought I would give that a go.

So I have been to the very confusing Telefonica site today and think I have agreed for this method in future.

I had this back from them which I think confirms that I have:

Alta en el servicio Factura sin papel de Telefónica

Le damos la bienvenida al servicio Factura sin papel de Telefónica.

A partir de la próxima factura que corresponda según la fecha de emisión, le avisaremos mediante correo electrónico de la disponibilidad de su Factura sin papel en el área de E-factura de telefonicaonline.com.

Para acceder a su factura con total seguridad deberá identificarse con su usuario y contraseña. Si todavía no dispone de estas claves, le informamos que las recibirá en breve: su usuario por e-mail y su contraseña en unos 10 días por correo postal. Si ya dispone de sus claves, pero las ha olvidado, puede recuperarlas en su Área Privada de telefonicaonline.com

Recuerde que con el ahorro de papel por la no impresión de su factura participa en el proyecto de reforestación "Árboles con la Factura sin papel", cuya información está publicada en telefonicaonline.com. Muchas gracias por su colaboración.

También le recordamos que sólo por tener contratada la Factura sin papel sus facturas de teléfono pueden salirle gratis.

I am worried that I don't get cut off for not paying so put more money in my bank to cover for this month easily but seeing as I have no bill and no receipt for November or December I don't really know what is going on! This will teach me not to have enough money in my account and not to be able to read Spanish better!

Can someone please read that Spanish and confirm that I now am paying without bills with paper.

Just read this quickly as need to go and fetch Xoaquin. As far as I can see it just means that you will now only be able to see your invoices online and will not receive a bill in the post. I can see nothing about payments.

Thanks Jenny! I found one online but can't see how to pay it! I am beginning to think this was a bad move and I was better off getting paper bills!

I get the sin papel factura....and so I never receive a bill. You are able to check the bills online with your username and password.

As for the payments well they should still come out through direct debit ....even if you had to pay the last one differently. It should go back to normal.

When Movistar have decided yto take a payment early due to a fiesta lol ...i Have the same problem and then make a normal transfer....the next month it all goes back to normal and is paid straight out again by DD.

If need be Bard go have a check in the telefonica shop they should be able to help.

Thanks, Stripps, and I hope you are right about it going back to normal! I don't even know where the Telefonica shop up here is!

I get worried because I see so much bad press about the company and yet I haven't had any problems until recently when my check bounced and that was my fault!

In case you want to go, the shops are shared with the Movistar mobile phone people as they belong to the same company (usually Movistar is written bigger than Telefonica).

I have now had a paper bill from them for the one that is due so assume it will carry on as sin papel.

The bill says El pago de esta factura se acredita por su abono bancario o el recibi de caja.

So I am assuming it is being paid as normal!
