Went to get my Certificado de Registro the other day.
Got there at 7.15am and was number 41 - the guy behind me was getting his NIE and was number 9 - so, get there nice and early as there's a lot more people queuing for those.
However, the processing is quite quick as they have 3 desks running. I was done before 10am and they print the certificate on the spot so no returning a few days later.
The certificado was asked for when I went to get the kids added to my Social Security number. Details in another thread.

Hello again Loaded!! Yes, you only get a piece of paper now but it does look a bit more official than the NIE number!!
You'll have to go and get the payment form and could download the form to fill in from the beginning of this thread if the link worked!! I just tried it and they must have changed it again!! I will add it if I find it's different.
Then take your old residencia, a certificado de empadronamiento, a couple of photos and the payment slip and I think that's all you need. Take your passport in case. Oh and you need to get there early in the morning to queue up. _________________ Who am I? Find out more here: http://www.myspacetenerife.com/index.php?page=view_profile&id=17
I will make this day a happy one for I alone can determine what kind of day it will be. |

This link is definitely working, just tried it myself. And its definitely the penultimate (second to last) form on the page. Before filling it all out online, remember that you can't save the completed form, you can only print it. Or you can download the empty form for later completion.
I assume that they've got more carbonated payment forms in stock by now? Or maybe they've run out again?? Will all banks process them, or just BBVA etc like social payments?
'Carbonated' - sounds more like a fizzy drink...

Our experience of the last few days is that most banks won't process them after 11.30 in the morning!! - except solbank..
ALSO we never got the kids NIE numbers as the Policia told us we didn't need them... we were going to do them while we were there but getting the Certificado de Registro also generated an automatic NIE number ...yay.. so whatever you do don't pay the 9€ NIE fee then go and pay the €6 for the C de R _________________ "Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new."

When we came over we needed our NIE to have all our UK items delivered and because we were in a hurry and didnt want to get caught up in any red tape we went to TIBC, Las Galletas, who did all our paper work (for a charge) and also sent someone to deal with them at the police station. In the end we had the option of getting our NIE issued a week after we went to the police station or our residencia on the day (including our NIE).
And, in reply to a previous post, m wife was visibly pregnant but no-one let her go to the front of the queue, although the policemen did let her use their dirty toilets. |
