 Post subject: Cheap watches that pack up quickly |

I have not had any success with watches bought here. Paying a maximum of 8-10€ the best use I have had is nearly a year with one I got from a looky looky. I have bought others from shops and had them pack up in a month. There is no way of knowing how long the batteries have been running in them and they are not going to tell you! For some reason the straps always break too and I end up having to carry the watch in my pocket. I have tried returning a watch at a bus station shop because it was stopping and starting and going slow and had to explain it all in Spanish which I managed. They gave me another but that only lasted a few weeks more!
What I really want is an old-fashioned windup watch - they used to last for years and if they stopped it was your fault because you forgot to wind it up! I think I will see if I can get one because I have had enough of cheap digital and battery operated ones! I don't want any special features, I don't want a fancy strap or the latest trend in time pieces and I couldn't care less what it looks like - all I want is something that tells the time!  |

if they dont sell them in the reef ask someone if they can find them in the uk and bring it over for you, if you find one and can wait to may i will lol

Thanks for the suggestion and offer, Leanne!  Looks like I may settle for another rip-off cheapo watch today though seeing as my current one has died and I won't be passing any "decent" places to get one on a Sunday I don't think. Or maybe I'll hang on until the week and for today rely on the time display on buses, clocks at bus stations and other people's watches at Flicks Bar because the clock there is broken!  |

Thanks for the info, Rob! I will have a look. I had forgotten all about it and haven't used it for months! Too late for today now though but I got through it all with the help of displays on buses, clocks at stations and other people's watches! |

I know what you mean about he watches I bought two last year one has given up even with a new battery and the other loses time, saw the looky looky man abdoo again this year and said I am bringing them back as they are rubbish, he said battery change battery!!!
i will check with my mum she always has brick a brac and does house clearances she may have a 'wind up watch knocking around, I am coming out to live in Tenerife at the end of Janaury and if I can find the time I will get a watch to you if she has one!!!! did you like that????

I know Abdou too - he sold me the best of the cheap watches I've had here but it still packed up! Is he still around? I haven't seen him for ages! |

I've been trying it minus the spaces but it still won't work for some reason - now I get "Page Not Responding"

Not necessarily and you have a pair in your avatar pic - I bought a pair of 12€ flipflops and have worn them nearly every day for many months and they are still going well. But I have in the past bought more expensive shoes or trainers that have developed holes or come away from the base in a matter of weeks. |

12€, that's quite expensive for flip flops!! I have some for 3€ from Carrefour and others for 6€ from a shop in Las Galletas
