Hi All, my name is Andy (the victimised and picked on one ) and I am married to Liz (the boss !!) with one son Daniel aged 13 (thinks he’s 19).
We are looking to move to Tenerife as soon as possible which seems to be the summer of 2009 at the moment. We have a Lot of things to find out about and research before we make the move including schools, areas to live in, legal requirements and many more. I have been researching for a few weeks now and have found this site to be both informative and objective whilst not claiming to know it all. I look forward to communicating with you and I thank you for the information you have shared. I hope to be in a position to add to this information share during the course of our planning and eventual move to the island.

Hi, and welcome to our forum from the boss in my house (no permanent woman in sight). I hope that your son realises just how important it is for him to become fluent in Spanish. If he's going to do his final year in school here it's either learn Spanish NOW or go to a British school (expensive). What will he do for a job? Without speaking fluent Spanish he'll only get a dead end job. Sorry if this sounds doom and gloom but he's at the wrong age to have time to develop into the 'system'.

Welcome from us too ! Yes need to take the age of your son in to account, we have friends that moved out with parents at the age of 15/16 and they stuggled and one had to do an extra year at school to compensate there is however Don Quijote advert on here you could send him there for a year or too until her becomes fluent in Spanish then he could look at UNi etc in Santa Cruz, or possibly get a trainee job somewhere....

Hi Victim, Boss and Son!! Welcome to our forum.

One thing that I also agree with is the learning Spanish. It will make all your lives a lot easier when you get here if you have at least some knowledge of Spanish. Even if it is basic to start with, you can practice more when you live here.
