You wouldn't expect to see Bulrushes growing on Tenerife but they do well in ponds in the aquatic gardens in Parque Taoro in Puerto de la Cruz.
Typha latifolia is also known as Great Reedmace and Cattail and is often seen in ponds and lakes in the UK and elsewhere.

Now these remind me of some decorative reeds I have in a vase in my bedroom. I don't know what they're made of, (dark brown/red) but something (I presume moths) is slowly eating through each of them, so they are now all patchy _________________ My Paranoia-Management Therapy is going great! They go patchy like that as they dry out and get older because the seeds fall away from the main stalk.
They are probably the same type or a closely related species. They are used as ornamental dried flowers. _________________ Find out more about me here: http://www.myspacetenerife.com/index.php?page=view_profile&id=10 |
