Post Post subject: CHLORINATED WATER !!! Reply with quote

As Rob and one or two others of you might know, I am currently trying to get my Tenerife swimming pool chlorine free. After removing all other chemical products from my life (food, toiletries etc) I turned my attention to my pool, in which I spend a considerable 20 minutes or so every other day.

I went to a lot of trouble of finding a reliable bactericide and algecide alternative to Chlorine (www.floatron.co.uk) and combining it with a soft oxidiser to break down remaining particles in the water.

However, on completing my first Chlorine and PH test, I was dismayed to discover that the Chlorine count is still off the scale, despite having added no chlorine to the pool for over 2 weeks.

The reason? Spain (and in particular the Canary Islands) adds ridiculously large amounts of Chlorine to our tap and drinking water without our consent. Every time you shower, wash your dishes or swim in your communal or private pool or spa, you are dousing yourself in a level of chlorine that, according to my Chlorine test chart, is off the scale as far as swimming pool target levels are concerned. And those are presumably calculated higher than one would ever require in a shower or kitchen sink !! Hell, Chlorine fans don't even need to add it to their pools, the government provides it for free!!!

So some of you might say, what's the big deal with Chlorine. If they add it to our water, it must be harmless, right? WRONG !!! Read the following article and if you're still not convinced, do a GOOGLE search for CHLORINE and DANGERS and educate yourself impartially.

http://www.4optimallife.com/Dangers-Of-Chlorine-To-Your-Health.html

I am absolutely DISGUSTED by this poisoning of our water, and I am now looking at the drastic step of getting a filter large enough to remove every ounce of this poisonous cr*p that currently enters my water supply and I don't care if it triples my water bill.

What next? Poisonous Fluoride added to water? Government pushing controversial child vaccinations upon us? Compulsory de-lousing at public checkpoints? Oh wait, the first two are already forced upon the majority of us without our consent, my mistake! And I'll give them 5 - 10 years before they implement the third. Thank God for Politicians, we wouldn't know quite how to get by without them....

I was just going to say what about the poisonous fluoride in the water supply? I wrote an article on that danger for Tenerife News last year and some idiot debunker wrote in to complain about my article. This was after it was officially admitted there was higher than approved levels in the water supply in several areas here including Icod! I don't want any chlorine or fluoride in my water!
We are living in a world in which we are all being poisoned to varying degrees! Evil or Very Mad

Hi Funky, sounds like a good aim you have. There was a documentary on over here not to long ago about toiletries etc and the research they did was unbelieveable the things that go into everyday things. One very interesting thing they said was that 99% of breast cancer is found in the top nearer the under arm and they are doing testing to prove that is to do with antiperspirants, the things that go into it to stop us pespiring which is a natural bodily function that should not be messed with and if you do then it will have 'side' effects. They proved you could make your own with beedwax and some herbs or essential oils and this was not harmful.

They went to a big manufacturers to see products being made and when she asked them about this research and showed them her home made version they asked to stop filming and escorted her off the premises... this is from a company with something to hide wouldn't you say ?

Anway enough of my ranting and going off on a slight tangent but I have been looking in to making all my own products. I already use essential oils to clean lemongrass, grapefruit are natural disinfectants and also work on a level with your mind.

Yes, indeed, and I have written on the dangers of aluminium in deodorants as well! Basically most products from the chemists - cosmetics, cleaners, body lotions and creams, spays, gels, mousses, bathroom products, shampoos and mouthcare products all contain poisons and yet every day billions of people buy them and then wonder why so many people are ill with serious problems like cancer! And yes, the manufacturers know and couldn't care less - they just care about successful business which means amount sold! Not only that but all these poisons end up in the rivers and seas in an increasingly toxic environment!

I agree Bard where is your article so I can read it. I am definately going to start making my own, I have a brochure of a lady that makes her own but it is very pricey just because it is all made to order. Think I will make my own.... I love the fresh smell of lemon grass. The only thing is what about shifting grease what is a natural de-greaser ? The awful oven cleaning stuff is full of toxics !

Oh I use the essential oil in my mop bucket as it smells lovely and it also an uplifter for anyone feeling down.

Do you use the essential oils or just the juice from a lemon Rob?

I have seen this distance learning course which sounds perfect for people interested in making their own products etc

Lea, we need more people like you learning about this stuff and making safe products! If enough people did this maybe one day the big manufacturers would see their sales drop and have to change course - I would like to think so!

The problems of the world are only there because they make big money for someone! Evil or Very Mad

Yes that is very true in the meantime we can only try and educate people. To be fair many people mock me when I recommend oils for ailments etc

I think it is all down the laziness people want what is easy and if it means pumping themselves full of drugs then so be it, if it saves them 5 mins of their time..... they don't think about the long term effects.

I've stopped using bubble baths and I am looking for a natural alternative for shampoo too as I have read about a chemical they use which gives us the nice white bubbles... this is toxic too, but it is all down aesthetics.

Yes poisonous foaming agents - just what we need! Just like we need poisonous E102 tartrazine yellow dye in mushy peas but find me a brand that doesn't have it!

Why do you buy ready made mushy peas? Can't you make them by soaking naturally dried peas?

I attempted this yesterday funnily enough, they were nice but the grocers had soaked them for me !

Indeed you can, Rob, and I would recommend that people make their own. I don't buy them but was making the point that every time I have examined what is in them I have found E102 even though it has been removed from many products after all the fuss about it years ago! The manufacturers would probably argue that people won't buy their peas unless they have the artificial bright green colour! Personally I'd prefer dingy yellowish olive peas if they were healthy ones!
